I haven't read the thread on favorite bands, but it got me thinking about some of my favorite songs of all-time. I compilated a cassette tape of some of my all-time favorite songs about a year ago, and listening to it got me thinking even more about what they are. Feel free to add your favorites-you don't need an explainiation why you like the songs, but it'd be interesting to see what people like, and how broad (or narrow) their tastes are!

Oh, and these songs are in no particualar order. They're just 10-that I can think of-that I really like.

1. The River-Bruce Springsteen
2. The Boxer-Simon and Garfunkel
3. Hey Jude-The Beatles
4. Unchained Melody-The Righteous Brothers
5. More Than A Feeling-Boston
6. When You Leave That Way You Can Never Go Back-
Confederate Railroad
7. I Am...I Said-Neil Diamond
8. Born To Run-Bruce Springsteen
9. Don't You Forget About Me-Simple Minds
10. Californina Dreamin'-The Mama's and The Papa's

I like a lot of music, but especially:

"God Bless America".

While the storm clouds gather far across the sea,
Let us swear allegiance to a land that's free,
Let us all be grateful for a land so fair,
As we raise our voices in a solemn prayer:
God Bless America.
Land that I love
Stand beside her, and guide her
Thru the night with a light from above.
From the mountains, to the prairies ,
To the oceans, white with foam
God bless America
My home sweet home.

God Bless America,
Land that I love
Stand beside her,
And guide her,
Through the night
With the light from above,
From the mountains,
To the prairies,
To the ocean,
White with foam,
God bless America,
My home sweet home.
God bless America,
My home sweet home.

==================

"God Bless the USA" by: Lee Greenwood

If tomorrow all the things were gone

I'd worked for all my life,

And I had to start again

with just my children and my wife,

I'd thank my lucky stars

to be living here today,

'Cause the flag still stands for freedom

and they can't take that away.

I'm proud to be an American

where at least I know I'm free,

And I won't forget the men who died

who gave that right to me,

And I gladly stand up next to you

and defend her still today,

'Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land

God Bless the U.S.A.

From the lakes of Minnesota

to the hills of Tennessee,

Across the plains of Texas

from sea to shining sea.

From Detroit down to Houston

and New York to L.A.,

There's pride in every American heart

and it's time we stand and say:

I'm proud to be an American

where at least I know I'm free,

And I won't forget the men who died

who gave that right to me,

And I gladly stand up next to you

and defend her still today,

'Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land

God Bless the U.S.A.

I love America. I guess that makes me Bush's poodle, but I'd rather be a dog in New York City than a prince in Riyadh.

You are showing your age ALPHA 1 with those old songs, but some of them a rather good. I have not yet settled on a top 10 of all time as new songs keep coming out all the time. I think when I finally settle on 10 songs then that would mean I would be getting old.

Eagles, Take It Easy, really anything from the Eagles is good.
Roxette, The Look,
John Farnham, Your the Voice.
Alanis Morissette, You Learn,
Hunters & Collectors, Holy Grail,
Smashmouth, Why Don't You Get a Job,
Craig David, 7 Days
Vanessa Amorosi, Shine
S Club 7, S Club Party.
Nelle, Ride Wit It,

Ask me again in a month and I will probably change my mind.

10 can be so limiting, but it really makes you think!

"Riders on the Storm" The Doors
"Teen Spirit" Nirvana
"Anarchy in the U.K." Sex Pistols
"American Pie" Don Maclean (sp?)
"Voodoo Child (Slight Return)" Jimi Hendrix
"Hypnotize" Notorius B.I.G.
"Got 5 on it" Luniz
"The River" Garth Brooks
"Comfortably Numb" Pink Floyd
"Fat Lip" Sum41

Yeah, it will probably change next week, but this is a pretty good list of the songs that give me chills...
