Well after 22 rounds of competition the AFL finals series begins tonight

1st Match - AAMI Statdium
Port Adelaide v West Coast Eagles

As much as I would love to see the Power win I don't think they can.

2nd Match - Telstra Dome
Hawks v Adelaide Crows

After watching the Hawks pathetic performance last week against Sydney I think they can still beat the Crows.

3rd Match - MCG
Collingwood v Sydney

Sydney to win

4th Match - MCG
Geelong v Kangaroos

Geelong playing with a full strength team will have no problems beating the Roos

So what are your thoughts, opinions and tips for the first week of finals??

Between the Power the Eagles i unfortunately have to tip the West Coke Eagles based upon previous final appearances.
For the Hawks and Crows, i think the Crows will win. The big loss to the Swans the week before was pretty pathetic, and i think they might be down psychologically knowing that they blew an extra chance for the final series.
I'm going against form between these two teams. All i have to say is Cheer, cheer the red and the white.
The Geelong and Kangaroos match to me is pretty much a foregone conclusion, with the cats being victorious.

What are your thoughts for the NRL finals matches this weekend?

seriously, leave out the coke part or I'll say something that I don't want to say...Hawthorn are well known to be in far worse shape when it comes to the gear than West Coast.

we had our chance for this game to be played here at Subiaco, we blew it, I think this time we will do Port Adelaide.

Hawks are pretenders as are the Crows, I didn't have AC in my top 8 but they just scraped in...lucky!

Collingwood at the MCG, Sydney are pretenders too.

Geelong are not the real deal, don't care where they finished on the ladder...they intimidate and only need to be intimidated back for them to go to pieces. They'll win, but they won't win the flag, I doubt they'll even make the GF.

if you enjoy watching players get injured then your a knucklehead, I thought the game was about watching the best players perform at their peak, not bashing them when they get injured...remind me of the club that has 7 players on the gear and is based in Victoria.

Looks like that Kangaroos are done at 3 QTR time.

so the games for next week will look like this

West Coast v Collingwood with the winner to play Geelong

and

Kangaroos v Hawthorn with the winner to play Port Adelaide

What an entertaining week of finals.

Both the West Coast Vs Port Adelaide and Crows Vs Hawthorn games going down to the wire. The Collingwood Vs Sydney match was also fairly competitive.

I guess the Geelong Vs Kangaroos match was a bit one sided (not complaining as I'm a Cats fan) but still a good game to watch particularly with my bias.

Looks like it will be a great end to what has been one of the most exiting years of football I've seen.

Bring on week two of the finals.

So would Dean Laidley be screaming at his management... "Why didn't you have my contract renewal completed before yesterday!!!"

What an amazing change in the game after qtr time. I have been doubting the Cats all season, but they have convinced me they are the real deal now. Looks like one of those cases that the flag is theirs to lose...

looks like the Eagles are Judd-less for tomorrow's game against Collingwood. Also Chad Fletcher and Ashely Hansen are back in the team. Even with Judd and Cousins out the Eagles will win comfortably

we've been Juddless the whole year....ok, he's played, but he's been a shell of himself for the entire year and battling groin and ankle injuries.

I've been to a lot of football matches in my time but never have I seen that happen, the last time it did happen was West Coast v Collingwood in 1990 at Waverely, I just got home from the game which took 10 years off my life, I think I'm lucky I didn't have a bloody stroke with the way I was screaming my head off. Huge year for us with the off-field drama and injured players...just very proud of the way we fought out the game and we now have 2008 and in our sights.

money isn't the issue, its whether he wants to return home or stay here...rumour is that Carlton are going to offer $7 million over 5 years but I don't believe he'll take it. Why would he? Carlton still have plenty of time to remain the bottom 8. I think in 2009 he'll return back to Melbourne.

I'd be more gutted if we lost Kerr because he is streets ahead of Judd in terms of our best player...and Carlton need to ask themselves this, Judd is injury prone and do they want to take that risk?

That was probably the most intense 50sec of football I've ever seen in my life and I've seen well over 600 games.

Have to agree there, this might be their year. We've already told the Gellong supporter at work he might want to take some leave is they make it, as he'll more than likely be boozed for the week!!

I am just glad that Victorian teams will figure on grand final day. Not because I am parochial, but because the Politburo (aka the AFL) were already feeling pressure to intervene on the supposed discrepancy between Victorian and Non Victorian clubs. A Geelong / Kangas grand final will put paid to that.

On the Judd situation, he wont be cheap - all 10 clubs will look at him. But as has been mentioned he is a tad injury prone. On the other hand he still has potentially 10 years ahead of him. Will Rebecca join him over here?

Finally commiserations to the Weagles. They fought out brilliantly with and understrength side, and gave us all the most entertaining match of the year. Considering the year they had off field it was a testament they were able to keep the wheels on and get this far.

close to my prediction! If Geelong play Port Adelaide next week they will lose if tonight's effort is anything to go by.

great article from Leigh Matthews today, must agree with everything he's said. watching Ablett Jnr tonight reminded me of the glory days of his old man...they're amazing footballers!

My worst nightmare come true. I have not yet bought into the whole "my team (St Kilda) against the rest of the world" concept. I do not hate other teams, except one and it is Port.

I just hate them. Pure and simple.  mad

Go Cats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
