"Anger as Kenya MPs get huge bonus

The protesters say MPs do not deserve such a huge pay-off
Kenyan MPs have voted to award themselves a $22,000 bonus each at the end of their five-year term in December despite a wave of public condemnation.

I've just heard it on the World Service, and was rather surprised to such behaviour by the MPs.

And they are acting much different than any other countries politicians, how ? They will vote themselves a raise of say 5% when the public service and military are limited to 2%. Standard ops, for lying, cheating, thieving politicos...{end Rant}

That's possibly true, but when your country is synonymous with corruption and the average person makes $500 per year, it's especially remarkable.

Even from an Africans point of view (at least in my country), America is one of the most corrupt countries in the world...can't defend how little the average Kenyan makes vs. the average American.

All in all, pretty bad on the part of the MPs

You've obviously never had to deal with Greek Solicitors then!!  Wink

I think most countries are corrupt to some degree but it is the scale of this one (bonus vs national wage) that offends.... to compare....if this happended in NZ it would mean each MP getting around 1.5 million $NZ......there would be a revolution if that happened here.

That's nice. But it's not reality.

Did I ever say it was a fact? I said it was our point of view.
