Suggestions For Christmas In France

I have a friend who is doing a fellowship in orthopedic surgery in Rennes. His wife (also a friend) is going to France for Christmas, due to the fact that he can not leave France, because of visa regulations, until he has finished his fellowship.

Are there any suggestions out there for a romantic Christmas getaway for these two, aside from Paris?

Strasbourgh has a world-famous Christmas fair which is supposed to be good. Otherwise go down to Savaoie or the other Alpine areas for some skiing, vin-chaud and raclette - mmmmmmm !!
