Well that's a shame. She was pretty damn funny. Never thought there was a Match Game Curse though. I figured they all made their money and didn't give a hoot about performing that much anymore.

I loved the old broad too -- and make no mistake about it, she WAS a broad (in the best sense of the word).

I always thought they were having one big cocktail party in the afternoon. Too bad they don't have shows like this anymore.

She was a character. But she was also 83 years old.

At that age - waking up in the morning is news, not dying.

Before these type TV games shows, older actresses and actors just faded away. These shows gave a lot of middle of the pack talent very comfortable retirements. In many cases it also showed the person to be much more intelligent, quick witted and funny than anyone would have guessed from their movies.

So what is this curse? Gene Raymond, Nipsey Russell, Charles Nelson Reilly & Brett Somers are all gone now.
Seems to me that it's the cycle of life here. They were all up in years when they passed on.
May they rest in peace.

Quoting FlagshipAZ (Reply 5):
So what is this curse?

I had the same question.

Yes, getting old is a curse.

When young girls stop flirting and start holding doors open for you Sad

But it beats the heck out of the alternative.

So what is this curse?

Exactly. Based on this logic, every show, movie, series (etc.) has a curse.

Everyone dies, regardless of what you do.

Match Game was a good, though.

I remember Brett Somers and Richard Dawson were frequently drunk on the show.
