For the more childish people on the board (ok, or the old geezers who have no time/life), what first person shooters do y'all play?
I used to play Warrock (www.warrock.net) a lot, but it got kinda old. Especially when I downloaded Americas Army and gave it a go. AA is pretty fun... I always get butchered, but hey, I still have fun. Warrock is a more arcade like game - no team kill, takes around 5 or 6 shots pumped into you to die, etc. AA is a lot of fun - players are more serious because they don't want to rambo and die and wait 10 minutes for the next round.
I wanna give BF2 a try sometime. Looks fun.
(I'm talkin about computer based games, if you couldn't tell)

I played Half-Life 2 for the first time last year. It was so good, I played part of it for 6 or 8 hours straight. (Yes, I did take bathroom breaks. Don't be silly.)

As much hype as there has been about it, Halo 3 is awesome. Really enjoying that one.
I also like pretty much any of the Splinter Cell games and, it's a few years old now (2003 I think it was released), but Return to Castle Wolfenstein is always fun.

BF2 is a great game. Might be worth it to wait for Call of Duty 4 though.

Ya'll are making me jealous! My poor computer can't handle that game (32MB video card, 700MB RAM)
I have to stick with Desert Combat from BF1942 for now. No matter anyways, because I haven't touched it for weeks because of school/work/college. I'll probably start playing BF2 when everyone else is playing BF4 or 5!

Quoting SandroZRH (Reply 10): I still play medal of honor Spearhead from time to time, yes, I'm old fashioned, but it's the only FPS i'm kinda good at
That was my very first FPS. I blew way too much time on old Spearhead...Days, hours, weeks that I'll never get back. But I suppose that's true with any FPS.

Deus Ex, one of, if not the best Ego-Shooter of all time. It might not have had the best graphics, but you'll be hard-pressed to find a storyline as deeply thought out as DX.

For me BF2 is the best online shooter. But if don´t want to play with all settings on LOW, you´ll need a Dual core of some sort, at least 1GB of RAM and a 12 pixel-pipeline videocard - like GF 7600, Radeon X800....
On the PC the next great promise is Crisis. Let´s wait and see, but I guess system requirements will be mind blowing.
Halo3 is a killer, can´t wait to put my hands in a X360 after I watched the presentation videos.
If you are still into PS2, Call of Duty 3 is quite good, but already looking old.Other great (not so new) shooters for PS2 are Killzone, EA´s Black and the last Rainbow 6.

You cannot failed to have noticed the hype surrounding Halo 3's launch, for a start it's one heck of a game, give it a try if you haven't already. Other FPS that i play (on the 360) are Perfect Dark Zero, Far Cry Instincts and F.E.A.R

Quoting Bagpiper (Reply 17): So I was wondering about BF2... my new computer is so-so... not great, not horrible.
AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+
ATI X1650 Pro, 256MB
1 gig of ram (soon to be 2)
and plenty of disk space
It plays Americas Army fine... just wondering about BF2. I could upgrade the video card, if I *have* to, I guess.
Any input?
You will be fine. I only have an X800 and my computer can smoothly run BF2 on high with X4 AA and a high FPS. BF2 is indeed a good game, but its quite old now, over 2 years old. May be you should try BF2142 the future version its just as fun, if not better. Also you need a bit of teamwork in BF2 if you want to get good, so don't just go shooting people by your self, join squads its much funner.
Other good FPS's are:
-Counter Strike Source (obviously)
-Ghost recon advanced warfighter 2
-Raibow Six Vegas
-COD 4 (soon)
-Enemy Territory Quake Wars (soon)
-Bioshock
-Crysis (soon)
Heaps of other games will be coming out in the next year....

Bagpiper, my PC it´s almost like yours, but I use a GF 7600GT and 2GB of RAM.
I was able to play BF2 with all sets to 100% even w/ only 1GB of RAM.
Go for it, and get the Collection Edition DVD, it has all maps and that 500+MB patch.
