I really hate apple products, but unfortunately my camera records videos in a Quicktime format. I want to chop and edit them like I can do on Windows Movie Maker, but I can't find any decent software...abiet, free software (cheap pilot).
Any good freeware video editors out there for us ameture flying-movie makers?

Seriously, I don't know any free Windows products which can edit Quicktime movies reliably. But wait, we need to define what a "Quicktime movie" is first - there's no standard Quicktime format, Quicktime reads many file types: what format is your camera generating exactly? MOV files? What codecs?

The codec doesn't necessarily weigh on the editing itself, but sometimes it might give some additional ideas of what software you could use. You can find out the codec by selecting Window -> Show inspector (or similar). It will then show up under the "Format" field.
Anyway, the easiest way to edit a Quicktime MOV file is using Quicktime Pro. OK, it isn't free, but it would save you a lot of hassle. And maybe... a friend can borrow you his computer with Quicktime Pro
