People say they respect others because of their honesty, etc..

I guess it helps to tell the truth, but I couldn't be the one to say that people are ugly or something.

Absolutely not. Lie whereever, whenever you need to.

No right answer.

Just be nice, honest and trustworthy. The appropriate level of directness will come thru.

Panam, TWA, Ansett, Eastern.......AC next? Might be good for Canada.

It is definetly good to be direct, but not in a way that embarasses that person in front of others. I'll admit I've made that mistake more than once.

Wife says, "Do I look fat in this dress?"

Yes, but it does depends on the situation, and who you're talking to!

Be tactful, if being direct is tricky. I like people to be direct (but not rude!) because I don't like ambiguity, but that's my personality. You need to 'read' people to some extent, which is very difficult on these forums! Things may not sound the way that they are meant to sometimes!

As mentioned above. Being direct is good. Something I pride myself on, but when posed with questions like "Am I fat, or ugly" ect, you have to have tact, and choose your words very carefully. Unless it's your wife asking, then you lie like O.J. Simpson on the witness stand!!!

Well if it would mean telling someone something terribly nasty then definitely not. But if it can be put into slight euphemisms etc and that person asks you for your honest opinion then definitely yes.
