Just loaded up a local IT news website, and it had a short blurb about Radiohead releasing their next album 'In Rainbows' on their own terms. That reportedly means that it's up to the user to decide how much they want to pay for it (although you will be charged a 45 pence transaction fee if you chose to pay £0,00 - and £40 for the special Discbox version). Reportedly, the record companies are furious & fear that other bands might have the same idea.
I think this should be an interesting experiment, and while I doubt the bit about the record companies is entirely true, it certainly is one way of going your own way! Personally I could care less about Radiohead's music (never did understand why they refused to play their biggest hit, Creep, live), but this might tempt me into buying it relatively cheap
