Is There A Sorbet Maker Machine?

Since I am allergic to milk (and ice cream too), I have cultivated a strong taste for sorbets.

Is there a machine (commercially available) for making sorbets? Or would a food processor/blender be sufficient?

If there is a sorbet machine, where can I find one? (I know there are many kinds of ice cream makers, but have wondered if there are sorbet makers). I'd like to know where I can find one, if they exist (I am in San Francisco).

Please let me know!

PS: Can you make sorbets out of grapefruit?

You can use an ice cream maker to make sorbets...there was an episode of "Good Eats" on Food Network about making them.

Example here: http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/reci...s/recipe/0,,FOOD_9936_4494,00.html

You can do anything with anything in cooking, just be experimental. Here's a recipe for grapefruit sorbet, seems easy enough: http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Pink-Grapefruit-Sorbet/Detail.aspx

Yeah I second that, just use a normal ice cream maker and it does the trick

Yes. We received one as a wedding gift. It is actually an ice cream & sorbet maker. It's by Cuisinart, model # ICE-30BC.

I have the Cuisinart ice cream maker, and it works great. Just your lucky day though, the similar one from Krups is half-price at the Amazon Friday Sale today--even has free shipping:

Thanks for the Amazon link! I've just ordered the Krups machine from it, taking advantage of the Friday half-price, free-shipping sale.
