I don't like her political leanings. Despite her being a huge liberal, she has stepped out and defended Sean Hannity for his right to say what he believes, and just last week, she asked for Al Sharpton to apologize to all those falsely accused in the Duke rape case, which, of course, surprise surprise, he hasn't done yet.
She is refreshingly honest when it comes to being someone who calls it like it should be.
She gets a big thumbs up from me for being an honest person. Thats something you rarely see in the Hollywood types.
And not only that, she has put "The View" back into at least the respectable level of daytime TV, if there is such a thing.

Did you know Taylor Swift has a STAR to BNA named after her? No, I'm not kidding.

I love her.
Anything movie wise I see has Whoopie in her I immediatly buy or at least rent.
She has been hysterical in already mentioned movies, such as Sister Act. I loved her performance in Ghost, as touching as the scenes were, she was phenominal in the comedy performances in Ghost.
Also, How Stella got her groove back was just as good, and she has some funny moments there as well.

That's the first character to come to mind when I think of her.

Goldberg has won an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar, and a Tony Award.
Forget Ellen Degenerate, bring back Ms. Whoopi to host the Oscars. Classy and funny as hell.

Quoting ConcordeBoy (Thread starter): aside from duking it out with Oprah for the title of "world's ugliest woman", what say you types?
I can think of dozens of frail/skinny crack-addicts in Hollywood that are much uglier than Whoopie and Oprah.
She is funny, charming and as others mentioned, is very honest and will tell it like it is.
Whoopie Goldberg has never tried to be a glamour model so bringing her looks in to the equation is besides the point ConcordeBoy.

I like her, like ANCFlyer said, don't always agree with her polital views, but you an always count on her to lighten the moment of a tense situation. "She's funny as hell". I have a lot of respct for her.
But, I likes my Ellen! Please ConcordBoy, Don't banish me to the beyond... You know, no Ellen Card, No Gay Crad, Etc. And the worst- No Sacs or Blommies Card.
Ah, Who am I kidding? I'd still keep them paid every month. OMG, I might be... a...Republican. *shudders*

I fully agree and think you put it quite nicely...I like that she isn't as rude/crude as Rosie was...I watch the View as background noise while working on PC, and she's made me chuckle a few times, which Rosie never did...When Rosie had her own show, she wasn't as political and offensive...

She's a great actress, and she speaks her mind sincerely and consistently about things she believes in. She may have some odd views (about dog-fighting, for example) but at least she's honest about it.

I don't care about her political views, there not for me to judge. Those are her opinions and free to them. Aside from that, I've always liked her. She always has a smile on her face. "I'm your prototype...", did anyone see her when she said that? I don't know what show she was on, but she was crackin' jokes left and right.

Overall I still consider her one of my favorite celebs (as much as I have any). Her early comedic work was nothing short of brilliant, and like others have said, some of her movies are classics that I still watch over and over. Like all celebs, I could care less what she believes or espouses, I make up my own mind. I do appreciate that she's always been fairly true to her own beliefs, no matter how unpopular they may be (Didn't know about the Al Sharpton/Duke thing, good on her).

She is a hilarious, talented actress and knows what the word “comedy” actually means. I have at least 4 of her movies in my DVD collection.
