Lucky bastard. We have yet to have any mentionable snow here in Boston. The most we've received from a single storm this winter has been about 10cm (4"), giving us a total accumulation thus far of about 23cm (9" total). In an average winter Boston will receive about 100cm (3' 3") of snow. As you can see, it is 31 january, so we are running as a significant deficit. One year (1994) we received 210cm (around 7') of snow. We had a LOT of snow days that year.

I got yesteday and today off, lots of ice in Wichita the last few days. I'm not sure if I'll get tomorrow off, I wouldn't mind if we have school because if we get anymore snow days, we have to add another day of school at the end of the year, and I'm planning a vacation for right after school ends(a few days after).

Here in Buffalo, we have so many plows that a few inches in the morning does not shut everything down. Unfortently, we need to get a large amount of snow in a short amount of time to get out of school.

Hmmm... well that is kinda strange. It is Washington State law that we must attend 180 days of the year, no matter what the weather does, what natural disasters we have, etc etc etc.. lol.
If that weren't the case, if we had a major disaster like when the volcano goes-- well, the school would be probably totally demolished and everything. So nevermind, they might bend the rules in case of volcano.

N400QX:In areas prone to snow the school districts build into the school year generally up to 5 days for snow days that do not need to be made up at the end of the year...if you go over the allotted days then you have to start staying later.

I'm in the north side of Chicago and we didn't get it that bad here. I really thought it was going to snow more than it did and this time around was actually kind of looking forward to it coming down.

LH423,
Do you live in the city of Boston or a town or suburb outside of it? If so, which one?

We have not had any snow days yet. But if we go over the limit (4), then theorectically we have to go to extra days, but the good 'ole Gov. of MD usually declares some kind of emergency for that day or something. IE In 1996 there was a bad snow storm and he ended up declaring a state of emergency.

Hmm, lucky eastern children. I've never had a snow day, living in Los Angeles. We've had rain [and also earthquake] days because the streets flood easily due too such little rain fall.
Yesterday there was frost on my car, on the grass and on the roofs of houses.
This morning this icecle [spelling?] with a light in it next to the clock in my car lit up, I was thinking 'no kidding' and the tempature gauge claimed it was 35 F outside, cold for LA.

too bad all the snow is melting already, and its so wet that its nasty. I'm here in Chicago too and we had a snow day. But we have finals, and my last one was yesterday anyways so I had no school today anyways, didn't effect me at all.
