I've watched a lot of sitcoms over the years but I seem to have either out-grown them in the last twenty years or so, or else, some of them get "old" after a few seasons. I like the animated sitcoms that have sprung up in the last 10 years

My favourites:

1. The Andy Griffith Show (best characters and stories anywhere/anytime)

2. The Beverly Hillbillies ( mainly the first few seasons)

3. Barney Miller (some say the most realistic cop show ever)

4. The Bob Newhart Show (liked all Newhart's shows, preferred this one)

5. All in the Family (quite a sensation in '71-'72)

6. My Three Sons (liked the aeronautical engineer angle)

7. Sanford and Son ( Sanford reminded me of my grandfather)

There's only one for me: Married With Children. Curious how nobody even mentioned the show on the ever bitter Al Bundy and his obsession for Ferguson toilets, not to mention NO MAAAM.

I don't know what qualifies as a classic sitcom; I guess it depends on what age you are (no offence intended to anyone!)

For me, the following are right up there:

1. Yes Minister/Yes Prime Minister
2. Fr. Ted
3. Blackadder goes Forth (loved all the Blackadders, but I think this was the best)
4. Frasier
