Alcs Game #7 Thread: Win, Or Go Home

I hope the Mods don't mind, since we're up to 250 posts on the LCS thread that we put this last one out, just to stop replying to that one. Maybe they could lock that one up, thank you.

Game 7: Cleveland Indians v. Boston Red Sox

Dice K v. Jake Westbrook.

The experienced Sox v. the young, unproven Indians.

And the Rockies await the winner.

How do you think the game will go? Who is the key tonight? What's your prediciton?

I think Dice K struggles again, never having been in this big of a game. The key is for the Indians to strike early against Dice K, and put him on his heels. Conversely, Westbrook needs to limit the Red Sox to very few runs through the first 4 or 5 innings. If the Indians can grab the lead early, and can get, in good order, to Jensen Lewis, Rafael Bentencourt and Joe Borowoski, they'll pull it out. If Boston gets an early lead, it could be all but over. That way Beckett could come in for an inning or two, and keep the Tribe bats silent until they can get deep in the Boston pen.

I think the Indians will bounce back tonight, and it will be a thrilling game.

Indians 5, Red Sox 3.

And may none of us have a stroke tonight.  Big grin

Oh there's an impending stroke. The ALCS final and my Steelers playing Sunday night in Denver, I've got two televisions set up side by side for the occasion.

As for the game. Cleveland wins it. Score is Cleveland 6 Boston 5. You heard it here first.  Wink

Well, he got through the first inning alright.

Another rotten break for the Indians there in the first. Tailor-made double play ball hit to Peralta-and it hit's the cut of the grass and shoots way over his head.

One of the incredible things about baseball, is little things-like last night, two dribblers hit in the right place, and tonight, a double-play ball that hit's the grass-can change the course of games.

Only 1-0. C'mon Tribe!

Another one!

Another little dribbler of a base hit by Ellsbury, that somehow finds a hole, and leads to a run.

When things are going your way, they go your way.  Sad

Oh, I'm far from surrendering this one. But the Red Sox, again tonight, hit two dribblers that find holes; Martinez hits a sh ot, right to Lowell; a double play ball takes a horrid hop. It's not over, but Jake can't let the Indians fall behind any further.

The worry for the Indians now, with the offense virtually in a fog, is that in an inning or two, Beckett comes in, and if he's on, he gets them to the 6th or 7th inning, and then you're in a deep hole.

The big problem with the Indians is their inexperience. You only have 2 veteran players on the team with postseason experience. So they are in essence in uncharted waters at this point and I think it has reared its ugly head in the last 3 games. We will see how this one ends up, but if they don't make it, you still have to give them credit for making it this far.

Ok, the Indians get one back. Don't need them all at once-although it'd be nice.

Dice K's pitches weren't as tight in the 4th as they've been in the first 3. He could only go 4, or maybe one more inning, and then give way to Beckett.

I'll be damned! They get another seeing eye hit. They're just getting all the breaks right now. It's just frustrating. If Ellsbury doesn't go, that's a tailor-made DP, and the inning is over. Damned frustrationg.

Folks, remember the umps blown call in calling Lofton out at 2nd. He was safe. He was called out. The Indians got closer, but very easily could have pulled even or ahead that inning.

Just remember that play, if this score would hold up.

He was indeed safe, but Cleveland has no kick coming. They got a gift double due to Lugo's dropping the ball, and for some reason held Lofton at third on Blake's hit. And you just knew the double play was coming after that.

Talk about arrogant, Mir! The Indians, since the 3rd, have badly outplayed the Sox. The only reason the Indians aren't tied or ahead was that bad call at second, and that single by Guttierez not going down the line and scoring Lofton.

And, right, sure you knew there'd be a double play. Right.

Grow up man.

What the hell falcon? You get completley delusional talking about your home sports teams. Pretty much everyone saw that coming, when you tempt the fates like that and leave the tying run squandered. The first thing you think in that situation, with a man at first is: 'oh shit, now a double plays coming'.

I'm even rooting for Cleveland, but at least now you cant say the Pedroia homer was cheap.
