And, in fact, there were a few calls early on that sucked. But the Pats made good. Now, if we have to play the Dolts in the playoffs, more than likely, it'll be in Foxborough, at 10 degrees F, and Peyton will be frozen in time, and will be confused, frigid, and frigged.

Agreed. I was suprised how the game turned into a bit of a defensive battle... these definitely are not the colts of last year's regular season! Two great teams playing evenly, should be a fun game in the playoffs when they meet again!

Yep, leave it to Pats fans to try to make it out more than it is. Note to Pats fans: Manning has nothing else to prove. If he gets another SB ring...great. If he doesn't...he won't be crying about it.

"Without cheating"? It sounds like you say that as though that's opposed to something more expected from them.

Quoting MSYtristar (Reply 1):

I don't care for Boston teams nowadays, but they're still undefeated. But it's also only the 1/2 way point for them. The only thing that could stop them currently is Bridget Moynihan getting some sort of lovers revenge on Brady.

Quoting MSYtristar (Reply 2):
You're smarter than that.

He is. And, hopefully, he'll pipe down later (though, that's only preferential - Boston teams have earned their success, but I don't much care for them, currently). If he doesn't, though, and they lose, I'm sure someone can kindly post a link to this thread.

Edited for content.

When Peyton walks off the field with a loss, especially in Indy, we did OK. If things play out as they should, Peyton will be in New England during a blizzard in January, and I feel perfectly comfortable about that. Bring on the ice and the snow.

MSYTristar: you know for a dead cert fact that Peyton CANNOT win a game in a New England January. Pussies.  Wink

I don't agree with that assessment. I think they run the table through January now.

Quoting MSYtristar (Reply 1):
New England really didn't impress me all that much.

They impress the hell out of me. They were down 10, late in the 4th, in a game where they were held in check for the first time this year, and were clearly frustrated, and still pulled it out.with some gutsy late play on both sides of the ball.

Quoting MSYtristar (Reply 2):

It may not be a "smack" in the sense of a blowout, but they clearly pulled out a stunner, when, I think, they really had no right to win that game. They were outplayed, and still won.

It was a super game, no doubt about it. The key was that on two occasions, the Colts got deep into New England territory, and came away only with field goals, instead of 7. That's the ballgame, right there.

I'm hoping they do. I'm sick and tired of the undefeated Dolphins team getting together for their annual toast when the last unbeaten team goes down.

You're kidding right...? Have you seen who they have left.... the Steelers are the only 'semi' challenge left. They looked un-impressive because they played the Colts. As much as I hate Payton Manning, he's on par with Tom Brady. The Colts are a VERY-VERY good team.

Nah. The New York Giants will upset them in Week 17, making the Pats 15-1 going into the playoffs.  wink  (I can hope anyway).

I enjoyed the game and had a good time watching it a friend's place. I didn't care either way who won, but he is a huge Pats fan, and was in a good mood when I left. A pretty good chance that we saw the first meeting of the AFC Championship Game tonight though.

Wouldn't it be rich if both the Patriots went 16-0 and the Dolphins went 0-16? Tall about a double whammy to Miami.  biggrin

OUCH! They could be called the Notre Dame of the NFL!  Embarrassment Miami's downward spiral ultimately began with Dave Wansteddt (looks like the Marlboro dude), who currently coaches at the University of Pittsburgh, a football team he is also wrecking. The guy can recruit, but can't coach himself out of a wet paper bag. The Dolphins couldn't even win in Europe.  Wink Although they were playing a much better NFL team over there (the Giants).

This was definitely helped by the fact that the Colts simply decided to take a little catnap in the 4th quarter.  Wink But I must say, comebacks like these are what Super Bowl Champion teams are made of. It wasn't a pretty win, but they're an excellent football team.

With a chance to go 16-0, they will not take that game off, mark my word. If they have a chance to run the table 19-0, they'll go for it. Why hold back when you can make history? They'll go for it.

Quoting 747fan (Reply 17):

So? That's the Colt's fault. But a good team will take advantage of another team falling asleep, and take what's given to them. They did that. They're 9-0, excuses nothwithstanding.

Because Bill Belichick was asked three weeks ago if he'd play his starters all year long with the prospect of a unbeaten regular season on the line.

"Not a chance."

"We'll rest starters and prepare for another run at the Super Bowl."

 yes

How would that look if Stranhan sacked Brady and he blew his ACL just because they wanted an unbeaten season?

And, in fact, there were a few calls early on that sucked.

Man, at least 2 of those pass interference calls (one defensive, and one offensive against Randy Moss) were EXTREMELY questionable. And the other defensive interference call was pretty questionable as well. I'm not exactly sure what the refs were seeing there....

But hey, calls don't always go your way. At least the Pats got to set a franchise record for the most penalty yards they've ever racked up  Smile (obviously, not a record you want to break...)

Quoting MSYtristar (Reply 10):
Yep, they just made bigger plays at key moments.

If, by "key moments" you mean the whole 4th quarter. The Pats dominated that quarter, when it really counted.

Indeed, those two defensive stops were HUGE for the Pats (actually 3 defensive stops - Vinatieri missed one field goal, or had it deflected). And although they were all early on in the game, they enabled the Pats to be able to mount their run in the 4th quarter.

I dunno what happened to Addai in the 4th quarter - we couldn't stop him in the first half...

They didn't cover the spread so a smacking is pretty much out of it, the game was good but what Indy did prove is that the pats are human and I am glad the refs called Moss on Offensive Pass Interference. From seeing the NFL today they said that the refs working today have called that the most and showed clips where it he was pushing off against Wasington and Miami. I hope the Hoodie gave him a talking to about that.

Maybe it wasn't a "smack down" but it certainly was a smack in the face to the Colts.

Like Gene Wojciechowski said in today's article, "If the Patriots can win 24-20 at Indianapolis ... in the Permanent Hearing Loss Dome ... against Peyton Manning ... then nobody will beat them this season. If they can commit a franchise-record 10 penalties for 146 yards ... give up 112 rushing yards to Joseph Addai ... trail at the end of the first, second and third quarters and late into the fourth ... and still win, then nobody will beat them this season."

Who the hell is going to beat them?

Nov. 18 at Bills 4-4
Nov. 25 Eagles 3-5
Dec. 3 at Ravens *4-3
Dec. 9 Steelers *5-2
Dec. 16 Jets 1-8
Dec. 23 Dolphins 0-8
Dec. 29 at Giants 6-2

The only respectable team on there is the Steelers. Don't give me this crap about the Giants - their performance against the Fish was horrible, and when you put Eli against the Pat's D... he's toast. 7 games left, and only 3 of them are on the road.

Quoting FXramper (Reply 15):

Cue UH60FtRucker.

Damn right. I had a blast this morning flying with our newest pilot who is a huge Colts kool-aid drinker. His auto rotations were horrible, and his terrain flight decels were terrible, but I gave him the benefit of the doubt, and chalked it up to the shock of becoming second best. Hey you know what they say about second place: first loser!
