Today was our chance for our 15 minutes of fame.
A few months ago, my wife got her purse stolen out of her car, while it was sitting in the garage (with the door open) waiting for her to take the kids to her parents house.
They got her license, credit cards, checkbook, car keys, camera, etc.
Criminals went on a shopping spree, using mostly her checks all over town. We reported to the police, not expecting much to happen.
Apparently, the woman who stole it, was stealing clothes from Nordstrom's and using her ID to return the clothes for cash at another Nordstroms. They got a little pissed and got the police involved.
Yesterday, a representative from Enterprise rent a car came to the house to ask for the return of their car (!), rented using her ID. She reported it to the detective assigned to the case.
We received the news that the perps. got caught tonight, blocks from our house, and our local news station came to our house to interview her about her experience.

Quoting AndesSMF (Reply 3): She'll be on channel 10 at 11, a few minutes from now.
I'll be watching in about 8 minutes. Hopefully it won't have teasers throughout the show and be on at the last bit.

Quoting AndesSMF (Reply 7): Guess I am a little paranoid, too.
I wouldn't call it paranoia in the slightest. Your wife got stiffed first hand, making those steps only necessary. How has the process been getting things smoothed out with the credit cards, credit buearus, and so on? Hopefully not too difficult.

The credit cards were the least of our problems:
1. She happened to have the car keys in her purse. It cost us plenty to get the locks and remote entry changed on the Sequoia.
2. They took the camera.
3. The checkbook (rarely used) was in the purse. Bitch went to town with it, writing checks all over the place. It was a hassle to close the account and reopen a new, plus we had to keep sending the police report and info to the stores that kept sending mail about the bounced checks.
4. Plus the time to get her license.
All in all, is good to personally see the criminal responsible go to jail, and probably for a long time.
