On mine, I insert the key and turn it clockwise.
On the company car, I insert the card and push the start/stop button.
On the rental I had last week, one has to insert the key and press the start/stop button.
On my father's car, you insert the key and push to start/stop.

How is yours ?

Two ways, either jump in, brake, start button, or jump in, tap a custom button that I put in, and touch the fingerprint scanner (just an off the shelf Microsoft computer one that cost $19.99 after rebate). The nice thing about the integrated cpu/gps/ iDrive being Windows CE is that you can easily mod it.

Where's a good place to rent BMWs? I enjoy well built cars and the last time I requested a "luxury" vechicle at MCO I got a Chrysler Pacifica - Because nothing says luxury like 45 cupholders and all those little "filler plugs" that're there making it obvious that the car could have been equiped with many more optional items but the purchaser skimped.

On my pops 4Runner I insert the key and then turn it clockwise.

On my truck at work, put the key in, wait for the glowplug light to go off, start the engine. Fill out the log book as required by the MTO while the truck warms up, then drive off.

For me I just turn the key clockwise with my foot on the accelerator.
If my car has sat for more than a week, I may have to pump on the accelerator to get the gasoline flowing in to the carburetor.
Yes my 31 year old Lincoln is pre-feul injection with a 4 barrel carb.
I like it that way. It will still start and run when nuclear weapons are launched.  Cool

Since then that Astrhaa was transferred to myself where it spent a couple of years in Eire then sold it off to a Nigerian who shipped it off to Lagos. It is now probably in use as a taxi somewhere over there

My car was made by Microsoft, and runs Windows Mobile 5.0, so to start it, I have to grab the anttenae, push the trunk release button and kick the left rear tire.

The Vanden Plas IS the Jaguar! I've never really been a Jag fan...too cramped and they drive like they have marshmallows gumming up the true feel of the road. What's so bad about BMWs though? I'll admit that they are cliché in some areas, but hardly over-rated. They have a nice solid feel to them and the handling is unbeatable (50/50 weight distribution on a RWD does wonders)... and lately they've been very reliable.
