Now I know that not everybody will know everyone who'll be mentioned, but are your 'famous people' considered to be famous by your school, locality or country. What's the name of your school and why are they famous? Here's my few to start things off.

St. Malachy's College, Belfast

Eamonn Holmes - Freelance journalist and TV presenter.

Martin O'Neill - Former footballer (soccer player for you yanks!) now turned manager.

Ciaran Hinds - Actor

Dr. Michael McBride - Northern Ireland Chief Medical Officer

Bill Neely - ITN (Independant Television News) reporter.

Alex Maskey - Former Lord Mayor of Belfast

...now your turn!

2 people:
1 in kindergarten went on to become a mass murderer.
1 in high school turned into a single murderer.
I won't dignify them by identifying them.
(Jeez I'm in a rotten mood tonight).

well I went to the same high school (granted it was about 30 years difference) as Alonso Babers who went on to win a Gold Medal in a running event (can't remember the exact event) in the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. He was in the US Air Force at the time and is currently a 777 pilot with UA.

Poe indeed didn't graduate, and neither did Wilson actually. Falwell never went here at all, but his son did. Faulkner was never a student either, but was "writer-in-residence" in the '50s. Of course, there are tons of others not mentioned, particularly sports figures (Heath Miller, Ryan Zimmerman, Matt Schaub were all here while I was an undergrad). Also, 7% of the US Senate right now is made up of UVA Law alumni (Bayh, Bond, Cornyn, Kennedy, Nelson, Warner, Whitehouse). Wahoowa!

High School - Altamont School

College - RPI

Several notable 19th century civil engineers graduated from RPI. These include the visionary of the transcontinental railroad, Theodore Judah, Brooklyn Bridge engineer Washington Roebling, George W. G. Ferris (for which the Ferris wheel is named), and Leffert L. Buck, the chief engineer of the Williamsburg Bridge in NYC.

Many RPI graduates have gone on to change the world with their inventions. Famous among these inventors are:

In addition to NVIDIA, RPI graduates have also gone on to found or co-found major companies such as John Wiley and Sons, Texas Instruments, Fairchild Semiconductor, MapInfo, Adelphia Communications, Level 3 Communications, Garmin and Bugle Boy. Several RPI graduates have played a part in the US space program; graduate George Low was manager of NASA for the Apollo 11 project and served as president of RPI. Alumni astronauts include John L. Swigert Jr., Richard Mastracchio and space tourist Dennis Tito. There are also several political figures from RPI, including federal judge Arthur J. Gajarsa, director of DARPA Tony Tether, MA-1 representative John Olver and Senators Mark Shepard(VT) and George R. Dennis(MD).

Other notable alumni include physics Nobel Prize winner Ivar Giaever (1964), physicist Robert Resnick, the president of the NCAA, Myles Brand, adult stem cell pioneer James Fallon, and director Bobby Farrelly.

Both lists from Wikipedia, didn't know about the Salisbury steak thing until just now but it certainly explains a few things about the Commons Dining Hall.
The RPI list is missing a few worth noting, i.e. Adam Oates and Darren Puppa from the NHL, Erik Jonsson the founder of TI, architect and artist George Rickey, etc.

Where are all of my respected members going?

-Dave Wottle, 1972 Olympic Gold Medalist

-Eva Marie Saint. Actress

-Nate Thurmand, named to the NBA's 100 greatest players team in 1997.

-Ken Morrow and Mark Well, members of the 1980 U.S. Hockey Gold Medal Team

Another BG athlete, although he didn't graduate, was Orel Herschiser, Hall of Fame Baseball pitcher.

My high school, the only one remotely "famous" is Matt Wihelm, linebacker with the San Diego Chargers, and member of the last Ohio State football national title team. He's the only first team all-American from my high school.

My kids school, Elyria High School, the most famous has to be Vic Janowicz, Heisman Trophy Winner at Ohio State.

Ulrike Meinhof graduated from my school - she later became a famous terrorist with the RAF (red army faction), part of the Baader-Meinhof complex.

Strangely, she was never fondly remembered at celebrations or suchlike.

When at school, she founded the student magazine that I too used to write for, so... yay.
