I mistakenly put this on the military forum..........repost here.

I saw this TV ad yesterday about Honda releasing a fuel cell vehicle, thought it was one of those TV ads where manufacturers show off their future technology........but no, this car will start sales in Southern California by mid 2008.

Regardless of the technology, I like the design of the car.

That's a very good looking car! It appears Honda has done quite a it of R & D on this car before releasing it, as I would expect them to do. Next year starts the general public tests. I like how the home energy station uses natural gas to make hydrogen, and also supplies power to the home, not wasting anything. Very good Honda!! I hope to see these available in more states in the next decade.

Basically it's a Honda Civic with the new Fuel Cell motor, so I'd expect it to handle about the same, though I couldn't guess about what the acceleration might be like. $600.00 a month for a lease seems inexpensive given the new technology-and the limited areas to fill-up. The home fuel-cell generator seems to be a good idea as well and a clever new use for the new technology. I'd expect to see the price start to come down once hydrogen filling stations start to gain traction (no pun intended).

I'd drive it...been following this car for a few years, it has decent performance actually if I remember, I read an article about this vehicle about a year ago that said it had 300 mi range without refill, 0-60 in around 8 seconds, max speed around 100 mph I believe.

I seriously think they should start selling it in northern California rather than southern Cali. People are more pro-green here than people in LA. Just the mere presence of Toyota Prius in SF, Bay Area, Davis, Sacramento can overcome the hybrid cars in greater Los Angeles and greater Orange County cities. :|

News is that there is more hydrogen infrastucture in SoCal. I haven't seen or heard of any in NorCal.

UC Davis has something to do with the hydrogen infrastructure...I think. I'm not sure which department it is but there's a graduate program that's dedicated to hydrogen/hybrid/whatever cars and I've seen plenty NGV Civics around the campus.
