Any Phoenix locals do baseball spring training...? I'm a season ticket holder for the Brewers AAA team and have thought about running down for a few days of the 2008 Spring Training year. Access to PHX is easy for me on Southwest, so that is not an issue. How about access to the Maryville Stadium...? Is it only open to the public on game days..? Any hotels close by..? Just looking for some advise from a local, or some other fans that have done spring training.

If you're talking about standard run of the mill hotels, the answer is yes, a few miles up on the interstate. The hotels do jack up their rates during the January-April season. Check with the Brewers front office regarding the stadium, some of them are open to watch practice etc. All the spring training facilities are nice in the Phoenix area, (the Rockies in Tucson is not up to standards), so it might be fun to follow your team around to other facilities. The only ones that are really hard to get tickets are the Cubs in Mesa, and the Giants in Scottsdale.
