Alabama coach says upset by Louisiana-Monroe was 'catastrophic event'
Citing the 9-11 terrorist attacks and Pearl Harbor, Alabama coach Nick Saban said Monday his team must rebound like America did from a “catastrophic event.”
In this case, that would be an embarrassing 21-14 loss Saturday to Louisiana-Monroe.
“Changes in history usually occur after some kind of catastrophic event,” Saban said during the opening remarks of his weekly news conference. “It may be 9-11, which sort of changed the spirit of America relative to catastrophic events. Pearl Harbor kind of got us ready for World War II, or whatever, and that was a catastrophic event.”
What a tool. So 9/11 "sortof" changed the spirit of America? And Pearl Harbor "got us ready for WWII", huh? Or whatever? Like, was it like totally catastrophic and stuff? Did this guy ever go to college himself? Or did he ever sort of finish high school, or whatever?

I hope he his assistants and the University's administration all got on his case. I also hope he has to apologize and has to take some 'education' about such events and how his team losing is microscopic in comparison to those history changing events.
On a more serious note, the furor over this has really died here after what happened to Siran Stacy and his family. To their credit, many Bama fans are more concerned about him and his surviving daughter than the game at this point.
For those who don't know, his van was hit in Dothan earlier in the week by a truck driving on the wrong side of the road killing his wife and four of his five children. The surviving daughter was flown to Children's hospital here in Birmingham which is not a good sign but he is apparently out of danger at this point.
The re-arrests of Joran van der Sloot, etc. has also taken some heat off of Saban.
