Who do you want to draw on Sunday?
I personally would be happy with England, even though Sweden had problems with N.I in the Euro qualifications.

I want England for Romania. We can kick their asses (as can the rest of the euro teams). But since that's not possible, give me Greece or the Czechs from the first pot and I don't care about the rest.

I take it you're talking for Germany. If so, that wouldn't surprise me, as they always seem to get the easiest groups  duck  What's that holy flag doing next to your name anyway? Big grin

As for us, I don't care really, anyone will do, except for Turkey  Wink

Well, how about Switzerland joining us. After all, of all teams we've played against, we've been the most successful against die Schweiz.  stirthepot

It's just in anticipation for the draw in Luzern. Maybe I'll keep it until Germany plays Switzerland again, which should be early next year.  Wink

How about Austria instead? Big grin

Why? Despite their recent balls up, England have every possibility of being a horribly difficult side to face if they get it right (I admit, the evidence of them doing so recently is *ahem* limited). Why would you want to face a side that could quite easily prevent you qualifying?

Just being controversial for the sake of it. As with...

England have been pretty poor recently admittedly but have a reasonable record for a small country.

You should not exaggerate. It just was an emotional problem, but is not necessarily a permanent problem.

Switzerland joining WHOOOOM ? alright, never say never. Nobody believed that German guy who in about 1970 on the terrace at ZRH said that Lufthansa would in the end purchase Swissair. But civil aviation is economics and football is emotions, which means a difference.

Windups don't work when everyone here is already absolutely furious with the team. It's not like we're going to defend them, is it?

Just seems odd that people would want to face a team that could, if they got it right, be lethally dangerous. I wouldn't want to.

Funny thing is that, in recent interviews, a lot of Swiss national side players named Germany as their favorite opponent in the Euro2008 group stage. Germany isn't exactly one of the weakest teams out there either.

That makes two of us... especially after what happened two years ago, and how the case was handled (by FIFA)  Wink

Either way, in order of making it to South Africa '10, Switzerland will have to put on some great performances, because I can see the team ending up in an even more challenging group than last time.

Who knows, maybe we'll end up in a group with Germany and do a Croatia and leave the Deutscheländers at home  Wink

Dream on. Nobody will do a Croatia on us. In fact, this time we want to make Austria pay for the Schmach von Córdoba.  mischievous

Ahem... England is 2nd seed, as is Romania, for WC2010... Thus it's not possible to be drawn together. So, to be laconic, I DO.

Could be similar but I'm pretty sure they were at least in the tournament un;like certain other team(s).

No British/Irish teams at all this time so I believe the 'home' internationals are going to be revived for that year. My money on Nth Ireland or Scotland - Wales out the back door.

No loss since 1968, that indicates something, Sweden usually lose to Germany though.

I wouldn't mind Germany, Poland, and (once again) Northern Ireland. Why? Because the Sweden team is in need of a change of generations. We will probably not qualify anyway, or we could use a season free of participation in a championship to make that transition.

Quoting BristolFlyer (Reply 6):

They have a disastrous record for a nation who thinks they can win the WC championship every time.
