I think any of about 6 guys could have won it. I personally would have picked Dareen McFadden, as I think he's the best player in college football. I'm not thrilled about giving it to an underclassman.

But Tebow can flat-out play, congratulations to him, as he had a fantastic season.

I liked McFadden a little bit more, oh well...
Did anyone see get Brennan left hanging when he tried to shake Daniel's hand when ESPN were interviewing those two?

I also think that Darren McFadden should have won. I might be a little biased because I go to the U of A. Oh well congrats to Tebow, there is no doubt he is very talented.

He is also the one of the 6 who will have the best NFL career. That means a lot more than the Heisman

Yeah, that was pretty funny. Maybe the girl Brennan assaulted knows Daniel.

Too bad he isn't going to be anything in the NFL

The only thing I disagree with this selection are two things:

1) It was awarded to a quarterback. (ughh! The Heisman should be awarded to a running back or tailback, hence the pose of the trophy.)
2) And he is a sophomore! (wtf?!)

So now you're Alibaba Kiper. Jr. and should be considered an expert on NFL abilities? I thought your talents were in the field of hooking up with sleezy WN stewardesses? Which is it? The A.net world wants to know.

I think what did McFadden in was that he had a couple of so-so games against lesser opponents. Perhaps I'm a bit biased myself being a Gator alum but Tebow never really had a down game to the extent that McFadden did.

Quoting AirframeAS (Reply 5):
And he is a sophomore! (wtf?!)

So what? He was the most dominating player of the year.

Who cares. As long as he is the best player. Should a rookie in a Pro league not win an MVP if he is the best?

As for Mcfadden he is a great back but he had some not so good games this year. Tebow played great even in the games they lost. I think that was what clinched it.

This is only the beginning. We'll have to see what the next 2 years look for him. It's a lot of pressure on him now, either make it or break it. Seeing he is a sophomore.... Hmmm  scratchchin  Says a lot.

Good luck to him. I doubt he will make a caliber QB in the NFL, let alone a 1st or 2nd round draft pick.

Tebow winning the Heisman...dude got very, very lucky!

Can't say dude didn't deserve it. And no doubt some people didn't vote for him just because he was a soph, so he probably should have had more first place votes.

Quoting N1120A (Reply 4):

As a quarterback, maybe not. But he's a hell of an athlete and it wouldn't be surprising if he made a transition to another position (TE maybe) and did have success. He doesn't seem to have the ego of some past players who wouldn't make a change *cough* Eric Crouch...

Everyone that says Tebow won't make it in the NFL is flat out wrong. He can throw the ball, and is a power runner.

The power running part makes him a threat to bolt, like vick, when he can't throw.

His arm though is extremely powerful and accurate. 1-2 more years in college should seal him as a great QB. He also has quite a bit more height than past Gator QB's that went to the NFL(Wuerrffel, Grossman, Palmer, Leak and Berlin(He started at Florida before going to Miami)>

The only problem is.... Vick isn't around anymore. So you cant really compare Tebow with Vick.

I'd rather see Washington QB Jake Locker over Tebow anyday! Now THAT dude can play!

I don't understand how you can make this determination at this point in his college career. I think that there are very few college players that can be predicted as being good in the NFL. There have also been many pointed out as future greats who washed up quickly. There are some who were nothing but matured in the NFL as well. Its a toss up and usually the pundits make their predictions for a paycheck, not with any solid basis.

I agree. I don't think that quarterbacks should win the Heisman. Although, didn't Tebow have a decent rushing season?

Vick would still be playing if it wasn't for the dogfighting..

I can compare Tebow to Vick, since they are both QB's that led over 70% of their teams offenses. Tebow can throw, and will be selected for an NFL team. At this point in his career, he is already a much more develped passer than Wuerffel, Johnson, Palmer, Leak and maybe even Grossman.

No, you can't. Vick did not play this year. Two different people from two different times.

Obviously, you have not seen Locker play. He isn't Heisman caliber but he AND OLD: Guangzhou - Baiyun (CAN / ZGGG) (closed), China">CAN play. He is a combo of a QB/RB/WR combined. The dude is fast and a pleasure to watch.

AND.....I never compared Locker to Tebow or Vick. I only stated that Jake Locker can play. The dude is a freshman. He surprised so many people around the University of Washington, let alone the NCAA.

Tebow had 22 rushing touchdowns, setting a new SEC record for a season.... Old record of 19 was shared by Shaun Alexander and Garrison Hearst, a couple of decent running backs....

At this point, Tebow is a more mature throwing QB than Vick, with several years in the NFL under his belt.

Vick is an athlete who plays QB; I tend to think of Tebow as a QB who is a superb athlete. I hope that doesn't sound like semantics, but that you get the gist.

We''ll see what happens. I'm biased but Tebow is a great player and might do quite well at the next level. He already throws better than Vick ever did and has proven he can take a hit and play with pain versus Vick (who only likes to hurt dogs.)

Quoting CasInterest (Reply 15):
At this point in his career, he is already a much more develped passer than Wuerffel, Johnson, Palmer, Leak and maybe even Grossman.

Wuerffel always had a weird throwing motion and he was in an option offense in high school with not a lot of throwing (though apparently enough to attract the Ole Ball Coach.)

As for being more developed that Johnson, Palmer (POS Canuck going on a dating show...what a dumbass!), Leak, and Grossman...probably so but he has also been tutored quite extensively on that since last year. Don't forget that he threw for over 10,000 yards in high school so it's not like he wasn't passing the ball before he got to Gainesville.

Quoting Redngold (Reply 16):
After all, the Gators coaches invented new plays for him, because of his capabilities.

I don't know about that. I wouldn't consider Tebow Left, Tebow Right, and Tebow Middle exactly new plays. Effective yes...new no.  Wink

Quoting AirframeAS (Reply 17):
I don't know, and I don't care. He is a QB.

Lighten up Francis.  Wink If your precious Jake Locker was up for the Heisman you would have no problem with him on the ballot and you would be all hot and bothered if he won.

Quoting AirframeAS (Reply 12):
I'd rather see Washington QB Jake Locker over Tebow anyday! Now THAT dude can play!

Better hope Ty Willingham gets him some talent otherwise he'll be transferring somewhere that does win games.

Tebow?
I think that this article is funny.
And brings up the question; If Jesus Christ is responsible for winning him the Heisman, will He be publicly be called out by Tebow when he Torettas out of the NFL in a few years?
I can see Tebow on the podium... "Yeah, I'd like to thank my (makes finger quotes in the air) "Savior" Jesus Christ for making me fall of my face in front of millions. The interceptions, the fumbles, being replaced by a 52 year old Vinny Testavrede? Yeah, thanks, Jesus. Real solid way to come through for me."

Sorry, but folks thanking their Savior is such a tired cliche and probably turns more people away from religion than fills pews. If I was on his offensive line, I'd probably be pissed off enough at his comment to let a few linebackers through, but I guess the devil would be responsible for that then, eh?

Except that he never said Jesus was responsible for winning the Heisman. He thanked God and Jesus for his talents but never said that Jesus made the others lose so he could win.

Quoting 4holer (Reply 23):

And yet again you fail at painting him in a bad light. He thanked his offensive line and all his teammates in his speech as well as saying that he wouldn't have won the award without the hard work of his teammates.

Quoting 4holer (Reply 23):

Perhaps it does but unless your fingers are broken you can change the channel, ignore the story, and just go on with your life. If you don't like what he has to say then don't listen.

He has a faith in God and believes that God has blessed him with talent...so what? How does it hurt your daily life? It doesn't so give up and move on.
