Today the most successful German Soccer-Club FC Bayern München and their neighbor TSV 1860 München announced how their new stadium will look like. They also said, that they have sold the rights on the name of the stadium to "Allianz" for €90'000'000. The new name will be "Allianz-Arena". (Also Hamburger SV sold the name-rights for their stadium. Now its called "AOL-Arena") Now I want to ask:
If you were able to sell the rights for your name for perhaps €1'000'000, would you do it? Perhaps your name would be (i take my first name): Matthias Microsoft, Matthias BMW, Matthias Airbus, Matthias Coca-Cola, Matthias Pepsi,...
I, myself, would never do that... (perhaps If i get €1'000'000'000 Big grin)
What are your opinions?

I would sell my name for a fraction of that - never liked my name anyway and have been thinking for years of an alternative.

As long as it did not become Robert Always Ultra or Robert Pampers......

Sure. Hell, I'd sell my soul for that amount of money. On second thought, as I do not believe in the concept of souls, I'd sell anyone a piece of paper saying "my soul" on it, for GBP100, or even GBP50... any takers?

Maybe I should try and auction it on ebay?

Regards

Ikarus

I can recall that an American couple did in fact call their baby after a company for money. However, due to negative publicity the company decided not to go ahed with the plan

I would do that, but maybe not if it was a disease or something like that, the Robert disease doesn't sound good too me... Perhaps I would sell it, and then change it! 1,000,000 € is a lot of money  Big thumbs up

1 million is not enough to not have to work anymore in a western European society. That amount was calculates several years ago as €5 million. With inflation it is about 6 million now. And that is if you live sparingly and have luck with the investment of the money.

1000000 €......it should be not difficult to generate 4% rendite/year out of that.
4% of 1Mio. € is 40000 €. 40000 € brutto a year are 550 000 Austrian Schillings. Thats much more than the average income in austria....
I would be more than happy with 1 Mio. €, and therefore I would give up my last name easily.
If you give me 2 Mio. €, I would give up my first name also. A happy Mr. Pampers ALLWAYS ULTRA  Smile  Smile  Smile

I don't think anyone would buy Michael Nemecek, so I'm afraid I'll have to keep it. But, Michael Nemecek International Airport wouldn't sound too bad  Laugh out loud

Actually, thinking about what I wrote above, it wouldn't be bad if Gozo Heliport was named after me.

Guys,

You've got this backward....The cities and teams are being paid by these companies to use their names.

Example, Turbulet would have to pay 1,000,000€ for the privilege of hearing "Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Michael Nemecek Gozo Heliport. "

Cheers,
Pete
