Hello y'all
I have another installment of Black n Gold talk here. I didn't get to watch any of the game thanks to me having neither KDKA here in Lancaster, nor the NFL sports package. Of course, Lancaster is just a tad to far outside the PIT media market -- just a tad...
It was a rather costly victory as Willie Parker will not be back for the rest of this season, thanks to a fractured Fibula (or is it a tibula?) Whichever, it hardly matters -- he's hurt and done, that's all that matters...
Big Ben had a good game again, completing 16 of 20 for 260-some yards and 3 TDs, and Najeh had a good game with over 120 yards rushing and a TD. How about that Ike Taylor interception to finish them off? He is known for having lousey hands capable of pulling off a pick...
It was a rather convincing win, but now that Willie is out, I do have doubts about our playoff hopes. Can Najeh or Carrey Davis fill in his shoes enough to produce good yardage on the ground? I always have questions about our offensive line, although they seemed to be a fairly solid unit. They still allowed 3 sacks on Ben. Regarding sacks, our defense didn't register any, which is also an issue at this point in the season. The need to really improve in these areas immediately in my opinion...
How about y'all?
Enjoy!

The Giants know what thats like. 3 players are out for the seasson and playoffs with broken legs (Jeremy Shockey, Mathias Kiwanuka, and Derrick Ward)

Quoting Miamiair (Reply 4): They need to adjust their game plan, that's all.
I think they can be able to change their game plan, but can they do this successfully? They made a good run in 2005, but can they adjust the way they did then and pull off another impressive and successful playoff run against at least 4 or 5 teams better than them in the playoffs, 3 of them in the AFC (Jaguars, Colts, Pats)?
Quoting Miamiair (Reply 4): I am suprised they didn't get to Bulger more than they did.
Even the news media is surprised that Pittsburgh is still the 1st ranked defense. They are not putting enough pressure on the quarterback. If Stevie Wonder and Rainman were to line up in the offensive line, even THEY"d tell if Pittsburgh was blitzing. Their blitz packages need to be disguised. I don't know why Dick LeBeau doesn't get it. He got it against the juggernaut Colts in the 2005 divisional game...

And boo Browns!
I've been thinking, the Browns play like crap. Crap is brown. So does that mean the Browns are named after crap?
I have that weird feeling, though, that we're not going to the Superbowl. They need to get their act together still, especially after losing to crappy teams.

Reminds me of a funny story my dad told me. His school colors in college were brown and gold. During one of his lacrosse games, they could hear what the other coach was saying through the air-conditioning ducts during the half-time break. The coach was yelling at his players "Brown's the color of shit! We don't lose to shit!" Needless to say, my dad's team continued to wipe the floor with these guys in the second half.
Anyway, my Bengals played spoiler this weekend to the Brownies and my Giants are playoff bound. A good weekend overall as far as football goes.

I also have that weird feeling. I think it's going to be New England vs the Pack, and of course, I am rooting for the Pack. I like Brett Favre. Enuf said.
With regards to the Steelers. We'll probably win this last one in Baltimore, then maybe win our last home game of the season, and perhaps our last game of the season for that matter, as we'd then play either Indy or the Pats. Indy we might take, but the Pats I don't think so...
But who knows with the NFL?!!
I thought we were going to be crushed in the 2005 divisional game at the Colts, but who crushed who?
