Well 2007 has been a pretty good year for me meet wise. Thanks to the dates that they came up on and the way my days off were falling I was able to make quite a few meets worldwide. I sincerely enjoyed meeting all my fellow a.net members, some in several different locals, a reacquainting with those I had met at meets in other years. The only meet I had to bug out of was PRG in September due to a new job interview. Alas with the new job I am once again at the bottom of the seniority list and probably won't be able to travel quite as much in 2008. One never knows though, if you had asked me in December of 2006 if I was going to be able to get to all these meets in one year I would have bet against it. So lets review shall we?
A.net meet at LAS in March.....
On Fremont Street Thursday night, thanks Burke!
At the hookersphere on Friday night...
Saturday morning at the sign
A.net meet at KEF in April.....
The Gullfoss waterfall
Yes, they were very firm!
The group inside the replica viking house...
And wouldn't I love to visit the Blue Lagoon again! It's the ultimate hot tub experience.
A.net meet at KBP in August.....
My favorite baddass bomber at the Ukranian Aviation Museum!
Outside the Chernobyl museum, next year the real thing!
Gotta love that Soviet made iron....
A.net meet at LAX in October....
A view of downtown LA from the cockpit of the 757 I was arriving on.
Up on the roof of the parking garage next to the In and Out.
Don't worry guys, I got your back...
Almost as good as SXM but no beach.......
And finally, the BHM shootout also in October....
The obligatory group shot...
Range safety officers kept a sharp eye out....
And we got to meet one of the next generation of A.net.....
Thanks to everyone who made all these meets such fun to attend. I learned a lot about a lot of places and how nice a.netters are world wide. Hope everyone has a happy new year and that 2008 brings you everything you want and desire. Lets meet again shall we?

Quoting AlexEU (Reply 1): Which purpose do a.net meetings have?
Well it depends. The LAS meet is just a chance for members to get together and have a good time in a good time town. Usually one or more side trips are planned but for most, it's a vacation and time to gamble. At KEF and KBP the meet was to visit places that you would not ordinarily visit. Both places were well worth the time and effort it took to get to them. The BHM meet is specifically designed around shooting. The LAX meet was the only one I attended that was centered around an airport. It's probably one of the few places where it you would not see just one carriers jets arriving one after the other, not to mention the runway set up, where it wouldn't get boring. I didn't attend the IAH meet because of previous commitments but that would have been fun even though I live here. You should try attending one sometime if it is convenient for you.
Quoting B747forever (Reply 2): Wow, seems that you all had a great time.
I don't know about all of them, but I certainly did.
That's why most of the a/c shots I took while spotting at LAX were on my cellphone (as if it looked like I was dialing someone) and came out in pretty good quality, although not Anet worthy.
If there are any future LAX meets, I would be willing to come out there again ... time and finance depending.

Quoting LHMARK (Reply 10): Still waiting for anyone to bite on the A.net ROC meet. Seems to be a hard sell. What's the matter? you guys don't like dash-8s and CRJs?
I think they fear the garbage plate and are also worried that a ROC A.net Meet will include a soccer game.
Hey, I looking at somewhere to go this Fall for a few days, maybe a ROC Meet could be in order. I'm debating between a trip to Seattle or Toronto, but hey, I'll throw in a consideration for Rochester.
The LAS Meet this upcoming April is a definite for me every year. It really is a "blow off some steam" weekend or vacation for the bulk of us. 2008 A.net LAS Meet PT 3: Trips On The Flop..... (by Srbmod Dec 9 2007 in Non Aviation)
Meets are really just opportunities to connect with those members we already know from previous meets and to also finally put faces to names. Plus some of the folks are just fun to hang out with regardless of the reason. Some meets are really nothing more than some members meeting up somewhere for dinner.

Drink beer, find a wife, shoot guns, ponder why Vulcan's holding a fudgesicle, eat, see the sights, maybe watch some airplanes. Take your choice, they're all good reasons, more or less.

Quoting RJdxer (Reply 16): Or a lose your luggage weekend! That'll teach you to check it!
Why I oughta....
In April, I'm going to check one bag, my garment bag. Plus I'll make sure to have at least one change of clothes in my carry on bag. I was barely able to get everything into my carry on bag and into the overhead bin when I went out there last month.

Quoting AA61Hvy (Reply 18): We should do it again, but more drinks involved.
Then it would be just like the LAS Meet, sans gambling and immigrants handing out escort ads.....

Dude, I went to the Ukraine and to China, for a week each and didn't have to check a single bag. We're not going to have a "best dressed" catagory so keep it simple!

Will be at this one as well. I am saving my floating holidays and will also trade as necessary to be there.
That's the only ones I know of for sure. I would say there will probably be a meet in PRG in the fall but nothing definite yet.
