I have been thinking about getting Firefox for awhile now and finally did it. I can't believe I waited so long. A-net finally jumped the shark with the ads that scroll into the forum text. I was ok with the old type ads that were not annoying but the in your face bullshit really ticked me off. Well I got Firefox with Ad block and see non of it now. I highly suggest you get Firefox

P.S. A-net runs about 5 times faster too!  Smile

I like FireFox, but some websites won't display correctly without IE (even with the IE plugin), so I'm forced to use IE for those.

FF has become more bloated over the releases. I have been using it since version 0.6. In my experience, IE7 on WinXP is faster to load some sites. Also, the more plug-ins placed into FF, the slower it gets. I have been playing with a FF spin-off, Flock. Flock is a web 2.0 version of FF2.

FF is way better than IE and has been for a long time. From the developer perspective FF's Firebug is much more useful and has a nice head start on MS's Developer Toolbar. However as a developer it can be a challenge developing content that is consistent in appearance an behavior acrso IE6, IE7 and FF. When IE6 is phased out I think FF and IE will start to converge a little more. IE currently handles certain CSS, and JS in peculiar ways.

When I used IE or Microsoft Internet Explorer I used to get a up to 50-100 viruses adware etc, a week no kidding. And this was with a new Pentium 4 best OS and up to date software and security updates. And no i wasn't surfing porn or sites that are virus prone.

The simple truth is ID theft is easier to perform on IE browsers, If you like it fine but keep in mind that these days you need the best protection against all of these problems we encounter daily or weekly.

Firefox is the best free security browser out there and have been using it for 3-4 yrs now and I have less adware and malware virus problems.

If you can't view certain sites on Moxilla Firefox use Avant Browser its also free

http://www.avantbrowser.com/download.htmlAvant has better security than IE anyday you still have to keep your IE on the computer but the Avant Browser works off of IE. Or use a compatible browser with IE or better than IE.

Firefox may not be the best fast browser out there but its best used on sites where you don't want hackers to see your personal information (ie..Bank accounts, other private account info.) A lot of the info from FF is encrypted and it is a Netscape browser.

IE any version is a magnet for hackers your bound to get more viruses etc.. I dont care whats faster- Avant is better for me to use if I have to go on a site that requires IE type of browser and somewhat better security than IE like I said.

All these suggestions were recommemnded from a work buddy who is a avid hacker and gives me tips on performance.

Firefox is vastly superior to IE, but I know people who will not adapt to tabbed browsing and stick with IE. The only problem I have with FF is that some news sites which have video need IE. When you click the video link, it is supposed to open Windows Media Player, but does not in FF. Same with embedded video on some sites and pop-ups of larger versions of pictures. Otherwise FF is terrific!
