Normally when I return from Banned-Man's-Land (you know, about every other month), I try to come up with some thought-provoking and/or trivial post just to get everyone talkin'. Haven't really given much thought to what that'll be yet, but in the mean time, I've been meaning to post this one for a while.

Basically, as the title implies; I'm going to list several pairs of words/terms/phrases, and I'd like you types to tell me which you (or people where you live/come from) most commonly use:

  • Burp or Belch?
  • Make Groceries or Buy Groceries?
  • Cute or Pretty
  • Dinner or Supper?
  • Britain or UK?
  • Barf or Puke?
  • Belly or Tummy?
  • Make Money or Earn Money?
  • Delicious or Tasty?

....these are the main ones to which I'm curious. Feel free to add any others, but make sure you answer these originals as well!

    What say you?

    Burp or Belch? Burp
Make Groceries or Buy Groceries? Buy. Make doesn't make sense
Cute or Pretty They are different words because they mean different things
    Dinner or Supper? Dinner
Britain or UK? Again, to allow the substitution of these two would be nonsensical, as they refer to different things
    Barf or Puke? Puke
Belly or Tummy? Depends on the context
Make Money or Earn Money? Either
    Delicious or Tasty? Delicious

    One for yourself:

    # Burp or Belch? Burp
    # Make Groceries or Buy Groceries? Buy. Make makes no sense which ever way you cut it..
    # Cute or Pretty? Neither. I prefer gorgeous if anything, although that's usually because it gets my girlfriend bright red with embarrassment.
    # Dinner or Supper? Tea. Dinner is midday, supper is before you go to bed.
    # Britain or UK? England, because i'm not British, nor am i from the UK. I'm English, i was born in Warrington, England, I'm English.
    # Barf or Puke? Hurl.
    # Belly or Tummy? Stomach
    # Make Money or Earn Money? Earn
    # Delicious or Tasty? Tasty

Another question, do you say neither with an emphasis on the E or I?

    Burp

    Make Groceries or Buy Groceries?
Buy...who on earth says "Make groceries"?!?!

    Cute or Pretty
    Either/or, depends on the context

    Dinner or Supper?
They mean different things where I come from...dinner is lunch and supper you have just before bed

    Britain or UK?
Depends on which parts of the British Isles I want to include/exclude

    Barf or Puke?
    Throw up!

    Belly or Tummy?
    Both

    Make Money or Earn Money?
Either depending on context, they both have different meanings to me

    Delicious or Tasty?
Depends on context...to me, 'tasty' means something is only OK, but 'delicious' is better than tasty!

And as for eether/eyther/neether/neyther, I have to say that I use all of 'em!
