Reminds me of the man who walked into a Minneapolis' Hennepin County Medical Center's pharmacy with an obviously forged prescription.

It simply said: "1 POUND MOPHINE"

IIRC, he was genuinely surprised when the cops showed up while he was waiting for his prescription to be filled.

They could extend the foreign borrowing for the war effort I guess. Quite a ridiculous story.

It is ridiculous. I mean, how the hell can they demand an amount of money that probably equals the yearly national budget of all EU countries plus US, Canada and Mexico combined? I hope common sense will prevail and this suit won't go beyond the preliminary hearing.

HellO? Could someone please tell these people they have no legal grounds to sue the government? Nothing says the government has any obligation to protect people from fires, floods, tornadoes, hurricanes, ice storms, mouse infestations or anything else except military enemies.

How about some personal responsibility for once.  Yeah sure

They get what they deserve for electing a corrupt local government. Those levees COULD have been built better but for lack of funding or interest by their local government.

Of course this will go nowhere, this is just typical jockeying for position that is all to common in the states.

I can't get into it in too much detail but a us company we did contract for tried to hit us up for close to 300 times the value of the work done. Idiots...

The US Budget for 2007 was 2.77 trillion.... 3 quadrillion would pay that for over 1000 years....

Look at it from the bright side: given the current exchange rate, at least they didn't sue for 3 quatrillion Euros.  Wink

From what I just heard on the radio, the 3 Quadrillion dollar lawsuit is actually from a single person, a banker, who lived 93 miles from New Orleans. An approximate total of 450,000 claims/lawsuits have been filed against the US government over Katrina. The only REAL thing that I could see them suing for is for the levies that broke, however, who would want to live in a city that lies well below sea level, right next to the gulf of mexico? Even if it is a helluva place to get drunk, piss in the street, and take home a $20 hooker all in one night.

These people mostly had hurricane insurance, but flood insurance is something different. It's something they SHOULD have gone after with their insurance policies. I mean, you can't even bury the dead underground in New Orleans!

Three QuadRILLION dollars..

I think the guy who filed that claim should be deported to some remote island... There is NO WAY IN HELL that his suffering + loss of items, property, ETC. is worth three quadrillion dollars. These people just want to be lazy and not have to work for their money. > Sad

The Dutch seem to be managing pretty well, and it's most of the country in their case plus the English Channel / North Sea which can put on quite a show as well.  sarcastic  Do you think the same about San Francisco, all of Taiwan, all of Bangladesh and any other area at risk of being struck by a natural disaster?
