Hi,

I booked an Easyjet flight to PRG last night, it leaves in about 12 hours from STN. Nice and cheap, £20 - day return.

When I was about 15 I spent quite a bit of time in PRG but I walked around with my eyes closed in my mid teens so don't remember much. Additionally, each time we went we drove from WAW.

What's the ground transportation like to/from PRG into Prague? My understanding is that it's about 10km?

Furthermore, what do you all suggest I do for the day? I'll have my camera and wish to spend as much time as possible on my feet, i.e. not cabbing.

Flight back is at 17.25.

TIA,

Swiftski

Avoid taxis. They are famous for cheating on foreign tourists.

Whilst I can capably use Google, I'm rather looking for forum answers; i.e. "avoid the airport express bus as i find it is often delayed". Sorry for possibly not being clear about that.

That's more like it. Thank you.

hey hey, Prague calling

if you dont mind using public transport, do it, its cheap - 60 mins tkt about 1 euro - and relatively safe, of course, beware of pickpockets as in every big city. Where are you staying? I can advise the best route for you, but it depends on where are you going. Avodi the taxis, as have been said, they usually cheat on foreginers... though yellow taxis from the airport claim themselves to be fair, but I dont believe them much, the taxi drivers are all one sort .)

Jeez, not this sh*t again... Swiftski, how do you manage to travel the whole world (wasn't it Singapore last time?) and always be stumped when it comes to getting to/from the airport?  crazy   Wink

500+ km over Polish roads... Cruel and unusual punishment... Small wonder you acquired a taste for airplanes  Smile

Hello!

Just a day-trip for me.

I used to live in WAW so I'm fairly comfortable with the Eastern European Capital side of things - I'll stick with the public transport!

Can you buy a day public transport pass?

All I will probably do is get off the plane, go to the centre, look around, snap a few pics, eat, then head back to PRG.

Swiftski,

as others already pointed out, take public transportation. I believe that there is a bus from Ruzyne to Dejvicka. From there you should take Metro A to Staromestska, Mustek or Museum. You will be in a city center and you can walk around all you want. It all depends what you want to see/do. Just get yourself little map.  Smile

Some will disagree with me, but I believe that public transportation in Prague is the best around. They have their own webpage, check it out at http://www.dpp.cz/index.php?q=en

There is a ticket that is valid for 24hours and it costs 100CZK. For tariff details: http://www.dpp.cz/index.php?q=en/tickets-for-20-minutes-or-5-days

Make sure that you look out for pickpockets as well. Just make sure that all you documents, wallet is inside pocket.

Other then that enjoy yourself. I lived in Prague for 15 years and I loved it.

Cheers,
Andrej
