I was just watching American Gladiators, which I thought was an awesome show, despite being WAY overproduced. But tonight's episode had something fishy happen. In the women's eliminator, they had to finish in a time of less than 3:37, and the only one to actually finish finished in what they said was 4:07. Here's the thing: they took away the clock for about a minute, and when they brought it back, it somehow had an extra minute tacked on!
I didn't believe it when I first saw it, so I replayed it. I started the tape at 20 minutes past the hour, and my thoughts were confirmed! They said that 3 1/2 minutes had passed when my clock still said 22 minutes past the hour!
Also of note, Molivan's time up until today was 2:13. Just before the men's eliminator, they showed it as 2:13. But then, at the end of the show, suddenly his time changed to 3:13!
WTF?! American Gladiators was such a great show in the 80s and 90s, I can't believe they've gone to fixing the show for ratings now. What is this ish?

FYI, the fakeness of AG was discussed a couple of weeks back in a still-active thread: American Gladiators Is Back! (by Queso Jan 5 2008 in Non Aviation)

I wonder if the disclaimer at the end has something to do with it..."portions not affecting the outcome of the show have been edited". For example, last night the two ladies were both struggling with the travelator. They both clearly took rests after a few attempts. What's not to say that they took longer rests than would make for good TV (since that's what it's all about), and they were edited out. I don't see that as fixed, I see that as smart editing.
And since this was all recorded several months ago, I'd imagine that we'd have seen a lawsuit by now if there was any foul play.
Oh shit, I just admitted to watching it...er...Crush is hot...
