The result doesn't really count, its the performance which matters at this stage. But i still want england to win obviously.

I do believe that the number of England World Cup certainties increased by 1 tonight.

Holland were sh*te.

I thought in the 1st half Wayne Bridge was by far the best player (I assume that's who David_itl was talking about). I was surprised he was taken off as his crosses were causing mayhem.

Good goal by Vassell, but for me he aint England quality. His first touch was woeful at times. Ricketts should get another chance

Actually it's Vassell who ought to be on the plane! Though there is a good case for Wayne Bridge as well.

Ricketts will have decide if he wants to continue as an England player....it's a pity that it wasn't a competitive fixture to tie him down to England!

Of the new players, Bridge did pretty well in the first half. It is a shame he was injured, but since we are not exactly rich in left sided players he has a chance of going to the World Cup. Ricketts didn't do anything wrong, but he's more one for the future I think. Vassell was fantastic! He caused the Dutch problems all night, and rounded it off with a cracker of a goal. Since he can play on the left, he does have a good chance of getting in the World Cup squad. Don't forget, last time round Michael Owen was in the same position.

I thought England were excellent last night, and were a bit unlucky not to win. Holland only had one serious attack, and they scored from it via a big deflection. They may have missed out on Japan, but they're still one of the best sides in the world, and England neutralised them last night. Very, very promising.

Beckham was his usual awesome self, Gerrard was excellent and Scholes played his best game for England for a while which was good to see.

The defence looked MUCH better than it has done, and that also is good for the summer.

Shame the Dutch wouldn't close the roof though as England requested.

The first half was good Daniel! Big grin

Seriously, are we meant to be scared by Germany taking Israel apart?
