Looking for some good tips on new places to eat in Vienna. This is our 4th trip there, so we have been to many "typical" places and are looking for something new. Any locals have any good ideas?

We arrive Wednesday and leave Sunday to Ski in Italy.

Hi Dtwclipper, if you really want to eat good food cross the now no longer existing border to Hungary (Sopron not Mosonmagyorovar) and search for a Restaurant there....much better food, believe me.

Thanks,

Can you recommend one?

Yep, Rosengarten....when you cross the former Klingenbach border just stay on the main road for 6 km, shortly after the "Sopron" sign you will see it, you cannot miss it.

Even better is the Panorama, but that is in "Balf" a few Kilometer outside of Sopron. If you need directions just ask.

Thanks...we'll make an effort to get out of the city and try it, great suggestion.

It is 70-80km away from Vienna, so do not wait until you are already hungry.  Wink Big grin

Try this one !!!
I would not go to Hungary if staying in Vienna..!!
Vienna is a great place for excellent food -why waste time and money to get inferior food in Hungay ?

I do not fight, just discuss, when you drive the A3 from Guntramsdorf to Klingenbach/Sopron and you pass by Müllendorf, wave

Because he already said he's been to many restaurants in Vienna. BTW: I'd like to try Hungarian food myself some time, it looks so tasty.

You will not regret it, but ask for advice regarding the right restaurant before you go....

I remember going to a place called the Centimeter when I was in VIE this summer...it's more of a bar, but they had some great food (not too pricey either)...don't know if you're looking for something fancier, but this place was recommended to my friends and I by an opera house usher.

The centimeter is getting worse in quality, nothing to recommend anymore....but maybe it will be good in quality again this summer, I dunno yet
