About the league I am in: I bowl at Shore Lanes in Merritt Island, FL in Friends Too Spring. Apparently the league wants us to bowl an average of 125 so we can get a decent handicap. We start at 630 and end whenever our three games are up. The cost is 14.00 per game plus 2.25 for shoe rental. I paid for next weeks and will continue to do so as I will not have to worry about cost.

Why I joined: My doctor rec it as I needed to socialize and we both hope some of the stress will go away. At first my parents said no, but my mom convinced my dad and both my parents said they will come watch. I may not be the best tool, but that is good for not bowling 6-7 years.

Game 1: 96
Game 2: 119
Game 3: 115

Hey,

I am also a bowler. Just for the fun of it. Once a week on Mondays. Got my own stuff. (ball, shoes, etc.)
I pay 7.50 Euro a week. An my average game is 188.
I'm bowling since '93 and enjoying it.  Smile

"hacking" the scoring computer to amend your score doesn't count  wink

no one would believe you were capable of scoring 300 everytime though, so you have to keep things realistic. Errr. I mean... If one was to cheat. Which I never would of course.. Anyone got a shovel?  Smile

I bowled in college and left with a 198. I absolutely love the sport, but I can't stand watching it on TV. There are many leagues at FedEx, but I have little time to participate.

I think your full of it. 150-180 isn't an average, it's a range.  liar

Same here, though I usually play on Wednesdays. Well, that, and I am actually playing with old Red Hooks, Rhynos and the like my father used to bowl with when he was still a pro. Thing is, both my parents were bowlers, and successful at that, but I appearantly didn't inherit their talent, so I'm stuck at a 160 average.

I'm in a once a week league that bowls three people per team each week in a six-team handicap league. Our team has five people on it, so we rotate playing, though I end up bowling a bit more than the others. My average right now is 140 (started playing last summer), and my high game since last summer is a 189. One of the guys on the team we bowled against last night rolled a 279 in one game, and a 277 in another (he averages 215). One of my partners rolled a 252 against his 277, so we actually won one of the three games.

I bowl at Brunswick Gwinnett in Lawrenceville, GA, and I have for 5 years. I used to bowl at an AMF Center just down the road for about 11 years before, but it's s dump, and so we moved centers.

My averaged 194 for one season back in 2001 (not bad for 12 years old, I guess), but then for some reason, I tanked, consistently in the 150's and 160's year after year. After a ton of practice with a bunch of great coaches, I've finally gotten my average back to about 180. Right now I'm sitting on 181.

I use a Columbia 300 Reaction Rev. I got it in late 2001. I'm sure it has well over 1000 games on it, but it still works well, as evidenced by what I did in December.

I have some sort of mental block when it comes to shooting a 700 series. I've come close about 10 times, and all of those times, I've blown it. The best I've managed in league is 695. The best out of league, 697. My dad and younger brother have shot 17 700's between them (but then again, they both have averages on the happy side of 200). It makes me wonder if I'm ever going to shoot one  worried

Good job. I know if I practice enough I can achieve those scores.

Well, this morning was yet another blown shot at 700. It's really pissing me off how I can totally meltdown under pressure. I opened up with 266, followed by a 215. Things are looking awesome right? Wrong. 7-pin starts the 3rd game (that I actually converted for once) followed by a Big 4 and a Greek Church back to back.

Disaster

I swear, I'm never gonna do it...

Eh, you're still young, you still have some time to go over 700  Wink . I thought I'd never manage a 300, but 2 weeks ago after around 8 years of playing on a regular basis, I finally did it and followed that up with a 297. Probably just a one-off occasion, but hell, I did finally do it Big grin . So, keep on going for that 700!
