His back resting comfortably against her chest, Hector nestles his massive canine head into Leslie Nuccio’s shoulder, high-fiving pit bull paws against human hands.
The big dog — 52 pounds — is social, people-focused, happy now, it seems, wearing a rhinestone collar in his new home in sunny California.
Its always nice to see stories like this... It makes me just want to run up to my dachshund and give her a big hug.

Very glad that they found a second chance at life and that they weren't euthanized. Pit bulls are wonderful animals who have been abused by a certain group of individuals.

I think any dog can be a wonderful companion. You're right. It's people who turn dogs into beasts. People like Michael Vick...

anyone know how many of the total dogs where they able to adobt out and how many had to be put to sleep? A lot of states dont even bother testing pit bulls to see if they are friendly they just put them to sleep immediately.

I would like to see more done to try to help these dogs. Some states do throw in the towel in the name of erring on the side of caution. Also have to consider that for some of these dogs a ton of rehab with a behavior expert would be needed. I am not sure the ratio of Vick's dogs were saved but I am glad some made it.

I don't know what came of it, but Thursday, CNN(Headline News) was reporting two of Vick's dogs were going to have their own reality show. Geeze.....
In any case, it's good to know those dogs are at least in a better environment.
Ah, Summer, Fenway Park, Boston Red Sox and Beer.....

Quoting Superfly (Reply 3): Good story.
I hope these dogs are loving towards the mailman and other kids in the neighborhood.
Back in Cologne, my neighbours had an elderly German sheperd and a pitbull bitch, they had rescued from an abusive owner. With them the dogs were treated properly and especially the pitbull bitch became really cuddly and playfull, not agressive at all, instead tailwagging happy.

Good news...All the dogs find good homes..Would be nice if Vick could be "put down" friggin loser. I hope he never gets back in the NFL and loses everything he ever had. Let him pump gas somewhere.
