It's showing on the screen here where I am. Can't find a link yet. The guys around here, though, grew up with Coach Knight - about time, IMO, for him to fade away.

Great coach but an awful person.

You mean he didn't toss himself out?

Agree with this sentiment...I won't miss him, although I wish he could have waited til after Texas Tech comes up here in a few weeks...when Texas Tech comes here, we really love to taunt him good...but looks like that tradition is no more  Sad

I guess he got sick of being stuck in exile in Lubbock.

I wonder what basketball program he will go do nothing for now.

Bobby Knight was the greatest thing to happen to Bobby Knight. The Texas Tech basketball program will survive (and prosper) without him.

Good riddance!

He should have retired 10 years ago. Sad another Knight is taking over the Tech program.

Know anyone who played for or was recruited by him? I know one of each and they say quite the opposite.

Best = 902. I can imagine playing for Knight would be like boot camp to the 10th degree. I cannot not say playing for him would motivate me, but his resume is undeniably impressive.

If you care to see what halftime in the locker room would be like with Knight...WARNING GRAPHIC LANGUAGE:

The best way I ever heard it put is he would make an average player good.. But at the same time he would also make an excellent player good.

Best = 902.

It only took him 40+ seaons.

Quoting AirCop (Reply 11):

Add Dean Smith to that list please. Knight shouldn't make a list with those two other than a stat sheet.

Ironically it takes 40+ seasons to play 1,273 games. It's OK if you don't like the guy, but an all-time record of 902-371 makes a pretty bold statement, bottom line.

Of course it does, but you make a pretty bold statement yourself, crowning him the best college college coach of all time.

Wooden's 10 championships make a bolder statement than each.

...plus I won't stand behind the Patriots 18-1 record, so, I'll admit...you got me.  fight

He got the best out of his players in college and only a few excelled at the next level; That includes Isiah Thomas, who left after his sophomore year.

There's no way an NBA team would run Steve Alford through multiple picks just to get him a shot.  Wink
