Tommorrow will commence, what will hopefully be a new Alaska tradition. The running of the reindeer through downtown Anchorage.
Our annual winter carnival is currently underway and this new event is modeled on the famous "running of the bulls" in Spain.
People entries are being held to 1000 people for the safety of the animals involved. All of these slots have now been taken. My brother was going to enter but didn't because at the time he though he would be on guard deployment to the lower 48 to guard the US from Mexicans. Although he won't be running with the Reindeer he has landed a coveted spot wrangling the Reindeer at the start and the end of the running.
Should be an interesting event, runs 330 tommorrow afternoon.

Well, finally found some video of the event.
Best two comments from the event.
1: From my brother who descibed the sight of 500 women running right for him as "Very interesting"
2: the Reindeer Hot Dog stand guy by the old courthouse, who stated that the event meshed well wiht his product because people got to see what they where eating.
