A man has been arrested after taking a new Honda Accord on an unauthorised 'test drive' from suburban Melbourne to the Northern Territory - 6,200 kms all up! He managed to convince the sales staff that he was interested in purchasing the car before making a rapid exit.......

In my experience every time I wanted to test drive a car, the salesperson rode with me, usually on a specified route and only for a short time. They also made sure (and usually photocopied) my license and had my old car left there. I would assume they could press criminal charges as well as civilly sue him for $1000's for depreciation, damage to the vehicle and so on. I bet too they will require in the future you must post some asset like your current car or not allow any unsupervised driving.
