Is it me or does anyone else hate these new caps? They are hard to get a good grip on them. Please bring back the old cap.

The new caps tend to be annoying, but the new bottles are great.

I don't really care for the new caps, but it does feel somewhat odd being short and stubby.

I can't get a decent grip on the new cap. Especially if its a really tough one and my hands are wet- like from condensation on the bottle.

I am guessing the caps are a cost saving measure. The new caps look like they involve a lot less material than the old ones.

Haven't noticed them up here, but I'll have a look next time I'm at the 7/11. They do look a little rough on the hands.

Perhaps, though Coke has a history of sticking to tradition in lieu of price, except for the whole HFCS thing. I think part of the new cap idea was to make them look more like traditional bottle caps.

Complain about it by sending them an e-mail or a letter. Many large corporations actually appreciate and encourage feedback from their customers rather than shunning it. At the least you might get a free Coke or two out of it!

i wonder about that. i work in the injection molding industry, but i haven't seen the new caps yet. I'll have to check out some of the recent magazines to see if they mention this. It really doesn't look like they got rid of that much material. But it does look like the manufacturing has changed. It looks like there isn't that ring that stays on the bottle anymore, correct? I wonder if it was more a manufacturing issue.

edit: nevermind about the last part. found some other pics that show it still has the ring.

I just noticed on my Dasani that it appears to have the cap. I didn't find it any different than the old ones to open. The difference is more pronounced in the picture above than I find it to be sitting in front of me.

The cap appears to be the same type here, the key to getting a good grip to to wrap your hand around the spikey parts of the cap and bingo its much easier to open!

I haven't handled one of these bottles yet. Is the bottle mouth wider?

Got some resealable cans in the mail. I don't drink caffeine, but most people that do will usually consume the 12 oz can in one sitting. Marketing bomb.

I didn't even realize there was a new cap until now, even though I've had the new cap for several months (for the my coke rewards code). I don't recall having any problems gripping the new cap.

Quoting ScrubbsYWG (Reply 8):

The ring is still there. Here's a picture of the new Coke cap next to a regular cap to compare the height.

Big version: Width: 800 Height: 600 File size: 108kb

When you compare it to the picture in the first post, the smooth part under the ridges is the ring that stays on the bottle.

No.

That depends. I know quite a few who won't finish 12 ounces. It is one reason they have been doing the 12 oz plastic bottles, which aren't much good for keeping the soda fizzy or retaining cold, which the cans are much better at.

I think Mexican Coke never changed.

With the price of corn getting higher all the time pretty soon the sugar will be cheaper than HFCS.

I bought some Mexican Coke at Walmart a few months ago. It is made with Cane Sugar instead of that HFCS crap, but even though is was marked only as Coke, it had a Lime flavor to it, just like Coke with Lime. Now if only I could find it as plain old Coke with Cane Sugar. Maybe I'll hit our local Jewish supermarket.....

It happens every year.

Given the level of subsidies for sugar in this country, it would take a really massive price hike in corn to make it worthwhile.
