As far as I'm concerned, thats not the case. Digital is still not up to the standards of your average SLR, if used properly. To get A.net results you could fork out £400 for an SLR/lens/scanner or for the equivelent quality probably £1000.
Photos accepted on the database will only ever be chosen on quality, the only way I see digital-only uploads is if the quality of digital photos is far better than that of an ordinary SLR.
This rumor is being spread around by people using Compact or APS cameras who expect their photos to be uploaded just because they think they are good, when really they do not meet the standards.
I think that the 'pro's only' is probably nearer the mark, although thats still way off. Even the best photographers are not as good as some ametuers out there, just take a look at some of the pictures on photo.net, far superior quality (not to mention using Medium Format..).
