I'm not shooting digital. Had my last HQ added 10 days ago. Haven't had anything processed since.
I think what you heard was just a rumor and nothing more.

That wouldn't make any sense anyway. My guess is that only about 2 of every 5 photographers here shoot digital. If they stopped accepting analog photos, then the database would not grow as fast.

hey this should be posted in the av photography forum!!!

As far as I'm concerned, thats not the case. Digital is still not up to the standards of your average SLR, if used properly. To get A.net results you could fork out £400 for an SLR/lens/scanner or for the equivelent quality probably £1000.

Photos accepted on the database will only ever be chosen on quality, the only way I see digital-only uploads is if the quality of digital photos is far better than that of an ordinary SLR.

This rumor is being spread around by people using Compact or APS cameras who expect their photos to be uploaded just because they think they are good, when really they do not meet the standards.

I think that the 'pro's only' is probably nearer the mark, although thats still way off. Even the best photographers are not as good as some ametuers out there, just take a look at some of the pictures on photo.net, far superior quality (not to mention using Medium Format..).

Regards

Dan

Of course A.net only accepts digital. What do you think scans are?

Psa188, altough it doesn't say so, I think he means photos shot on digital cameras.

That makes no sense, Staffan. A good .jpg is a good .jpg, no matter what the source. Even those print shooters can get stuff uploaded here.  Smile

Read my first reply on the thread, I shoot slides and I get shots accepted, and so do many others.
I think this is a rumor started by someone who didn't get his crapola shots added.

Agree, Staffan, there's no other way to explain such massive stupidity.
