Looks like another GOP anti-gay politician gets caught in a gay tryst. I never tire of these hypocrites getting their comeuppance!

Well, this is a rumour, not a fact as your misleading title suggests. But I suppose waiting for the facts are merely an inconvenience.

The Locust Fork Journal is NOT a particularly reliable source of information. It's no more than a blog trying to act like a newspaper to push extreme left wing views. This doesn't mean it's wrong necessarily but it's highly unlikely to be credible. To put it in perspective, the owner's a left wing Drudge wannabe with .000000001% of Drudge's readership and makes Drudge look like a centrist.

There's not a word of this in any of the AL papers. Also, if there really are rumors flying around regarding this in the legal community, I would almost certainly know through contacts with family and friends who are lawyers and lobbyists.

For the moment, I'll treat this like the latest UFO story in the check in line.

So far the story's not showing up in the mainstream wire services but if it does, whooooo-hoooooooo!

Like that preacher, Ted Haggard? "Ohh, yeah, I smoked meth with the guy, he's a gay prostitute, we got naked, but it was only a massage and I'm not a homo."

We follow FOX News standards in this case.

Anyway, it's not really news. Now, conservative GOP politician NOT involved in a gay scandal would be news!

On further study, it's basic Freudian psychology at work.

Those who say they don't like it, really like it.

The whole idea is that by making it illegal/illicit, you're increasing the thrill of the act. It's just like having sex in a public place; the danger of getting caught provides the thrill.  Wink

No surprise here. One of the bloggers on the subject summed it up perfectly. The Republican National Committee is like a gay bar.

I'm not a GOP apologist, however just because we have this rash of incidents doesn't mean Repub's are gay hypocrites. I'm sure there are closet gay hypocrite Democrats as well. However I have to say with the few incidents I have heard of it kinda puts a stereo type on an affiliation or group. The media blitz nowadays doesn't help matters either.

On the other side of the coin at least you guys have a sense of humor.  rotfl

If you want to see a really funny take on this, check Loretta Nall's latest blog entry. FYI, she organized a drive to send sex toys to Troy King last year protesting him trying to get the legislature to tighten up laws around them. She got it started with an inflatable pig "toy".

http://nallforgovernor.blogspot.com/

The "I'm Troy King and I'll blow" parody song to the the tune of "King of the Road" is actually pretty funny.

For those who don't remember Loretta from the hottest candidates thread a while back, she is the MJ party founder, write in Libertarian candidate for governeor, general entertaining whacko from AL.

You know something, it's amazing the unsubstantiated vitriol that's allowed to stand here against a conservative but when I started a thread criticizing Andrew Young for racist comments he made(substantiated ones btw) the entire thread was deleted because it wasn't PC and some users felt that I was being a racist by pointing out his racism.

As for those who would suggest that I should SD this thread, that's not the answer. I believe in an open exchange of what we'll only loosely call "ideas" in this case and all others without a one sided definition of what is and is not PC censoring the dialog.

I'm getting long winded here but the main point is, please hold up a mirror. Ask yourself what your reaction would be if it was Drudge or O'Reilly smearing somebody you like with no apparent basis in fact. I can assure you that the local MSM here would love to toast King and their deafening silence on this is a very good indication that there probably is no substance to the story.

Note that I could be wrong, he could be "guilty". This really isn't relevant. Personally it wouldn't break my heart to see him gone as his positions on a few things are offensive to me.

As for hypocrite gay politicians, many here are conveniently forgetting McGreevey for example - he took it a step farther in fact and made poor decisions pertaining to his job directly related to his sexuality as well, i.e. appointing his boyfriend to a post he was unqualified for.

Satirically comparing the RNC to a gay bar is hardly vitriol. This is politics, not high tea at Buckingham Palace.

Apparent being the operative word here. The blog story cites several sources...it's impossible to say whether they're reliable or not. The fact that the governor's office -- and the attorney general's office, for that matter -- did not return multiple phone calls does raise some questions.

What about McGreevey? He ultimately went public. I'd be more worried about Ken Melhman and his ilk...

Appointing one's significant other to a post they're unqualified for. Is that news? Hell, nepotism comes as naturally to politicians as lying...just ask Paul Wolfowitz.

The difference is that he never campaigned against gay rights. What he did was wrong, but he did not hurt or put down gay rights.

No no, that's just the point. The Dems don't run around claiming that homosexuals are the cause of all the country's ills and that it should be illegal/caning/stoning/whipping, etc.

There are gay Democrats and they are quite open about it.

I have no problem with a gay politician. I have a problem with a homophobic politician who gets caught "eating sausage."

There's nothing inherently wrong with taking the story at face value.

Time will tell. The blogosphere does tend to have a strong self-correcting mechanism built in.

If (If) the allegations are true, Mr. King won't be the first and certainly won't be the last public figure to rail against gays from the rostrum while secretly stashing an autographed Barbra Streisand boxed set of CDs in his boudoir.
