Tragic news in the Liverpool Echo today that an 18 year old man from Liverpool has died in hospital following a suspected homophobic attack last Friday. Michael Causer, who was openly gay, died in the Walton Neurological Centre on Saturday.
He was attacked in the Huyton area of Liverpool, on Friday 25th July. Doctors carried out surgery to try to reduce the swelling on Michael's brain, but unfortunately this proved unsuccessful.
Police have arrested two men for assault with intent to grievous bodily harm. This, presumably, will now change to murder.
My thoughts and prayers are with Michael's family and friends. May he rest in peace.

Absolutely disgusting....I hope these criminals are given life in prison.
What I never understand about extremists whether they disagree with a person's religion, race, or sexual preferences, what is the need to hurt someone?!
If you disagree, fine disagree, but that doesn't give anyone the right to hurt or kill someone!!!
Sorry for the rant, these kind of hate crimes just piss me off.

Quoting Dougloid (Reply 3): Would it be any different if extremism was not involved?
You're completely right...It's absolutely horrible that we have thugs walking around doing these kind of things.

I would like to think that these scum would get life sentances but being the UK they will probably get out early for ''good behaviour''. Taking a life should mean a life sentance until the prisoner dies.
RIP....

It is horrible that thugs took the life of this man. They violated his right to be be alive.
The real problem lies in the fact that someone (or group of people) thought it was ok to kill him, for any reason. If someone would kill a person because they didn't like gays who knows what they will do to something else they don't like. You can try all you want to teach people tolerance of others, but what really needs taught is that murder is wrong period!
"Thou shalt commit no murder" It doesn't matter who the person is or if you like them of not.

Not that its relevent, but the charge would probably be manslaughter rather than murder. To get a murder conviction you need to prove they intended to kill the guy. Manslaughter would be an easier case to prove, the guy died as a result of the thugs actions.

agreed. There are many things I disagree with, but its the individuals choice on how they live their life, it doesnt interfere with your life, so why is it of any concern?
