Look at Rock/Metal bands? A lot of them have female vocalists, people at concert is made of at least 50% of females, so a lot of women like that type of music.
But a few of them play instruments. How many female heve you seen playing drums or guitars, basses?
It's really, really rare.
Do you have any idea about the reason?

I like eating, but that doesn't mean I like cooking. There's a reason Lexus drivers are disproportionately female and why more beer is consumed by men. Different things appeal to different genders.
You can't just mention Lita Ford without some pics, videos.
The Runaways kick ASS!
My favorite female rockers would be Heart.
Yes there are guys in the band but Nancy Wilson is an incredible guitarist and her sister Ann Wilson is a phenomenal vocalist and she also plays the mandolin and flute.

The reason? Simple.
Guys start rock bands to get chicks. Girls usually have an easier time at getting the attention of the opposite sex than guys (when was the last time you saw male groupies?), hence no need to start rock bands.
As with most things in life, thinking with your crotch will generally provide you with the correct answer.
Read this very carefully, I shall write this only once!
