With the passing of IKE and accusations of price gouging at the pump, I am curious what the price of gas is around the US and all over the world. Here in Vero Beach it varies from $3.89 to 3.95. I have heard up in Knoxville, TN it has jumped to 4.99.

Gas prices are all over. At one station its $3.61/3.71/3.81 and 3/4 of a mile down the road its $3.49/3.59/3.69. Hopefully in a week or so once this Ike nonsense is over its gonna drop like a rock thanks to oil at 96 dollars a barrel.

The major oil companies here in NL publish a recommended retail price almost every day.
BP is quoting € 1.625 a litre, Esso and Shell € 1.63, Texaco € 1.635 and Total € 1.64 a litre 95 octane. The average being € 1.631. These are the maximum prices you'd expect to pay when filling up along a motorway. Other petrol stations will offer a 'discount' of up to € 0.08 a litre.
Now one US liquid gallon = 3.79 liters and € 1.00 is approximately € 1.42. This equates to $ 7.70 a US gallon here. Easily the most expensive petrol in Europe

Oil is down nearly $5 right now in the US lowest its been since Febuary of this year. With the global economy slowing down and IKE did not do as much damage to the oil industry as expected. Hopefully in the next few months oil can go down below $85 and that is when we will see real relief in prices. Who would have thought 3-5 years ago that we would be happy seeing $90 oil prices.
Here in Metro DC prices are still pretty high compared to what they where in Miami before I left for DC a month ago. Paid 3.75 for regular a few days ago.

Unleaded gasoline on the merc was $2.56 per gallon. Everything above that is tax burden, transportation, and price gouging.

A similar increase occured in Delaware County as well. In just 2 days, the Sunoco station in Aldan (where I normally go) went from $3.49 to $3.59. A Liberty station at Secane went from $3.51 to $3.69 also within 2 days.
Yesterday, I saw a Valero station in Essington selling diesel at $4.19 and another station (a Sunoco) down the road selling it for $4.59.

Gas took almost half a year to go down from 145.9 to 138.9 but can jump 10 cents/liter within a matter of hours? Bullshit!
Oil companies or whoever are running out excuses and the public isn't buying (the excuses) anymore.
Anyway, it jumped from 138.4 to 147.9 per liter on friday. I wonder how many months its gonna take down to crawl down and reflect the actual value of a liter? Â

Gasoline is Miami is usually about 20 cents/gallon more expensive than in Orlando or tampa. Could someone explain that one to me
Also could someone explain why before the hurricane hit some places had already jacked up the price around where I live from 3.56 or so to 3.83 and more?
Some gas stations reacted slower but eventually 87 octane was OVER 3.89 everywhere.
We've seen worse gulf hurricanes than this and gasoline has never usually jumped this much from one day to the next. This is some ridiculous local speculation "fueled" by the OMG a storm is coming to the Gulf!!!!! from the news media.
If everytime they came up with these stupid hikes people would only spend a few bucks at the pump to drive for a day or two instead of filling up the whole tank, gas companies/and the ahole speculators would get the point.
