Are there any Airliners.Net members that use Yahoo! Messenger, that would like to chat about Aviation & would like to exchange screen names? I just figured it's a faster form of Chatting, until chat is up on Airliners.

I've been called a yahoo by a few people lately around these parts but I do not suppose that is what you're looking for.

I don't know anyone who uses Yahoo Messenger. So that's a first. It's usually AIM in the US and ICQ/MSN elsewhere.

I didn't know anyone used Yahoo anymore. It seems like it hit its peak around 2001-2003. Am I alone in that thinking?

The peak for Yahoo! Messenger, but Y! messenger never gained significant market share. The 3 big players are AIM, ICQ, and MSN, with ICQ diminishing and MSN and AIM taking up the rest. It seems like Yahoo! products are all headed towards a downward spiral. The Yahoo! - Google rivalry is pretty much over. . . Yahoo! in my opinion is pretty much done (on its own) unless it can join forces with some company like Microsoft.

I've got AIM on my computer because the folks I work for require it.

Just as a point of information, I use the version for Windows 95 because it's not nearly the memory hog that later versions are.It also works with Vista as well. It's pathetic, really, the way it whinges and begs and importunes you to "upgrade".

I also removed it from my start menu because having that trash trying to boot itself in the middle of all my other startup tasks is a huge pain in the ass. Of course, once you start it it reinstalls itself in the start menu and you have to remove it all over again, which is why I have the system configuration utility come up every time I start my computer.

If you have a GMail account you can use AIM messenger within the browser.

I turn on YIM sometimes for fun to see who is on. I used it long long ago when Yahoo! had chat room links in their YIM. Now, I rarely use any messenger. If anyone wants to contact me, they can either e-mail or call.

I only use MSN Messenger, or Live Messenger as they call it now. I wish I could use it on my Eee PC as Pidgin doesn't quite interface with Messenger very well.
