He was sitting a at a table near me with a friend at lunch today, in the 8th in Paris. I looked at him and thought, I know this guy. We looked at each other for a moment until I realized he wasn't an acquaintance, but rather Gaspard Ulliel in the flesh (Hannibal Rising, Paris Je t'aime, un long dimanche de fiancailles...). It was in the restaurant next to my office; always full of French and international characters.... Nice surprise for the day.

I think he's a great actor. How about you?

As its fashion week, a number of fashion insiders; It's also close to the Palais Elysees and the Ministry of the Interior, so you get some French political figures and power brokers. It's next door to Christie's, so you get their clientele also. Other french film personalities have been seen their by my team, as well as Michael Douglas standing outside last week...

I just saw Strayed and thought he was excellent. Good looking, too.

I was eating sandwiches from the same tray as Cesc Fabregas a few hours ago, and spent around 10 minutes in the same room as practically the whole of Arsenal's first team (Carling Cup night so they were all off duty, chilling in the players' lounge).

Beat that!  Wink

All very impressive that you have all encountered someone famous, but this was never meant to be a boyish 'beat that' exercise, but rather a thread relating to Gaspard Ulliel and what you thought of his work, which is now quite extensive (both in French and English speaking cinema) ...... Anyone

It is only your fault by saying "I had lunch with" encouraging others to tell their stories... Only your fault. If you wanted a thread that talked about Gaspard then you should have titled it "What do you think about...."

Maybe the reason people are not playing along nicely is that this person isn't very well known. Well, I've never heard of him.

Did you both have Fava Beans? (make disgusting slurping sounds here).

Seriously though, I never saw that sequel and have never heard of Gaspard Ulliel. I would not have known he played Mr. Lecter if you had not included that clip in your OP.

But in the "top this" vein that this thread has taken, I once stood on a beach in Florida talking 1 on 1 with then Chancellor Helmut Schmidt of Germany (He gave me directions to bar down the beach), and second quick conversation with him about 90 minutes later on the beach (at his instigation). He was a very friendly. His security people were very good at being descrete.
