What's The Appeal Of The One-word Topics?

Word association, and it's millions of reincarnations, the country game, the city game and even the baseball player game. What's the fascination?! I mean, what is so interesting about reading 500 one-word posts, all about the same thing and then adding one of your own. How can posting the name of a city be interesting AT ALL?! I'm sorry, but I just don't get it.  Smile

Well, that's the point, you don't need to read all those replies, all you really have to do is read the last post and reply! No effort or thinking involved whatsoever!  Big thumbs up

Anyways, why one Earth was the country game just archived?!

It's an addiction, my guess. It enables all of us to quite literally both impress ourselves and be part of something at the same time. The threads get pathetic but still are fun to read. I don't know how?

Asking why requires actual thought which disapppears in these kinds of threads...

I didn't participate in the baseball player or country game, but the city game gave me a feeling of participating. When there is not a topic I care to comment on but I still want everyone to know I'm still alive, there are the association threads.
Besides, it irritates my brother that I have nothing better to do. Big grin

They've all been locked sooner or later, but eventually another will spring up. Sure, you don't need to think, but what's the point? You can do other stuff and not think, and it doesn't have to involve these kind of threads.

Or maybe I should just accept that people in this forum are generally weird, and trying to analyse them will ensure that my psychiatrist gets the boat he's always wanted.

Well, I do it because the you would need to read my word and then use my word to create on of your own...

As the "Baseball Player" thread author, I feel qualified to reply. It's kind of a game and/or competition. I know that if you weren't participating, it would appear to be schizophrenic. I know that some of the responses that made you go "huh?" made those of us playing laugh. Just another fun way to enjoy the non-av. forum in my opinion.

PS, I'm not bothered that it got locked, it had run it's course.

Hey KROC, why don't you make a "shaft association", so the rest of us can blow off some steam.  Big thumbs up
