Yes! Until about 2 years ago, I used to go to bed at 10pm and fall asleep by 12am, it was extremely annoying, as I just could not fall asleep. Since then though, I have gone to bed later and fall straight off to sleep, works wonders!

Yes, sometimes. But I've noticed that since I've begun my fitness program, it's a lot easier. Also, I try to shower/bathe at night, which helps to relax me. Also, I try to avoid eating anything about two hours before I go to bed, since that always seems to keep me up. And also, It's been about a month since I've had any sort of caffienenated beverages. It makes me feel a lot better. What tends to keep me up every now and then is when I get stressed out about certain situations in my life. But again, if I can get myself relaxed before I go to bed, it usually helps.

I've suffered from major insomnia in the past. Tried everything, including going to a sleep clinic.
Here's the best long term solutions to insomnia (which includes having trouble falling asleep):
1. nothing to eat within 3 hours of bed,
2. no aerobic exercise within 2-3 hours of bed,
3. if weather cool, a brisk walk for 20 minutes,
4. a warm drink just before bed,
5. do something relaxing for 30 minutes prior to bed, such as light reading, light TV.
6. use your bed only for sleeping (or sex), don't use it for reading, watching TV (this sets you up psychologically),
7. keep the room cool,
8. no caffeine after 6pm,
9. no daytime napping, or sleeping in the next morning,
10. wear your socks to bed (warm extremities help with sleep).
11. do not attempt sleep when stressed out....destress FIRST.
All obvious stuff......but collectively they work. Of all the above, #5, #9 and #11 are key.
Panam, TWA, Ansett, Eastern.......AC next? Might be good for Canada.

I had problems for years and cured it with something really simple.
Just put a few drops of lavander oil on your pillow and you'll be well away all night.
PS It also helps the room smell nice which can be quite a blessing for some people!!
