I was absolutely appalled to read this in the paper today. Hopefully they find the creep/creeps who did this.

Car vandals aim at Liberal supporters
Brake lines cut, cars damaged at homes
Oct 05, 2008 04:30 AM
Linda Diebel
National Affairs Writer

Toronto police patrolled a midtown area overnight, after vandals cut brake lines on at least 10 cars parked at homes with Liberal election signs on their lawns.

"We're investigating. Officers are paying special attention to the designated area and we take this very seriously," Staff-Sgt. Shawn Meloche, from 53 Division, said last night. "This is a danger to life as well as to property. Regardless of the motivation -- and there appears to be a connection (to the signs) -- this is a public safety issue."

The best part though...

"Only a very small number of people took their signs down. It speaks to the resilience of the people of this riding... We're here to stay."

Update:

The number of cases is up to 30 with 12 being reported in the riding of Parkdale-High Park and another 6 reported in St. Pauls today. Hopefully the police find the scum that are doing this.

So you are saying this is okay?

Protest is fine, as long as it is non-violent. No matter who is protesting against whom, any violent protest is unacceptable. Plus, you just make yourself look less credible. I am more likely to believe someone who calmly sits down and discusses their problems with something than someone who cuts brake lines.

This type of thing is dangerous, stupid, pointless, and immature. Society really needs to grow up and grow a brain.

Sorry to read of this.
Looks like the nasty disease of conservatism is found it's way north.
Nothing tops this story of a conservative Republican that murdered his Democratic opponent.

Oh yeah, breaking a window of a Starbucks is just as bad as taking the life of another human being that just so happens to be a liberal.  Yeah sure

Paint with broad strokes much?

This was the act of thugs, plain and simple. Their conservative politics don't excuse NOR explain their actions any more than when we see liberals who commit horrible crimes.

The so-called 'liberals' you see at Seattle or Quebec City are not the same 'liberals' you will find in the Liberal Party of Canada. If anything they (those that protest the WTO) are not liberal at all, but socialist and libertarian radicals.

I was unaware of the event you posted in the CNN link Superfly, that is absolutely awful.

It should be noted that the police have yet to charge anyone and ALL parties (NDP, Conservative) have denounced what occurred. No party wants to be associated with this type of publicity.

Last week I was walking towards my 11 year Explorer in a mall parking lot (I park remotely so I can walk a little) and found that someone was working on removing a McCain bumper sticker from my car.

I kindly asked what he was doing and he replied that he hated Republicans so much that he just HAD to remove as many yard signs and bumper stickers as he could. Republicans just piss him off.

I told him to go ahead and finish...I had another one that I would put on. He walked away, leaving the job half-done (typically). I followed him. After about 20 or yards, he asked what I was doing. I said that since he felt vandalism was a valid form of political expression, he wouldn't mind if I took a look at his car and see what I could rip off. He said, and I quote: "but I'm right, and all you asshole republicans are wrong." He than ran away into the mall.

Congratulations, you have proved that there are some stupid Democrats. Do you want me to prove that there are stupid Republicans?

What exactly was the point of this story?

No, taking a life is not as bad, But guess what....They don't only break a starbucks window, they break tons of windows of mom and pop shops....they shut down towns which KILL people's livelihood.

So no, it isn't taking a life directly, but it could be a lot more than breaking a window.

These little punks should grow up and stop sucking off of mommy and daddy's trust fund.

Everyone should get off our high horses...Both sides suck when stuff like this occurs.

Actually I thought it was a pretty good story. Nowhere is he saying that he thinks all Democrats act this way.

I think the point was to rebut post #5 in its entirety......it's easy to come up with sensational stories on each side; I can't understand why folks want to paint ALL of those on "the other side" as rabid monsters.

The point of the story, AKiss, is to point out that fools on both sides of the political spectrum take things to the extreme, though I do believe liberals tend to act out more, Looper not withstanding.

I thought it would be interesting to point out this young man's reaction to 1)my bumper sticker and 2)my claim based on his action. Actually, quite simple.

Actually, I know some, thank you.

I'm not so sure that there will be any civil unrest.

But, let's say you're right and there is civil unrest; whose victory would cause the unrest, assuming we're talking the presidential election and not the under cards?

And, by the way, how are you prepared?

I wholeheartedly agree with you there.
Violence is wrong period but I think killing someone to be the ultimate crime. I value life over a storefront window.
