I was just wondering if anyone was going to be at fleet week this weekend and the few days after that. My girlfriend surprised me yesterday and told me as we were pulling up to the airport at IND that instead of flying to SEA for the weekend to visit her parents, we were in fact going to SFO for fleet week. This is my first time at fleet week and was wondering if anyone has gone before, or is going this year.

Apparently my girlfriend's uncle is the head of security at SFO or something big like that, and he got us a spot on a Coast Guard Cutter to watch the shows from the boat in the bay on Sunday!  Big grin I'm really excited and was wondering what to expect for fleet week. I'll be taking LOTS of photos so I'll post those in the trip report once it's over.
Thanks and have a great weekend!

Think about posting this in either Military (it's a military event) or Non-AV (that's where A.net meetings are to be posted) ...

Have fun at Fleet Week !

I live here in San Francisco so yes I will see it. The weather is picture perfect for Fleet Week. Crisp clear autumn blue skies which should be great for taking pictures.

Blue Angels going fast and noisy....yawn. Give me a proper display team like the Red Arrows, Snowbirds or Frecce Tricolore anyday.

Haha! Big grin
Honestly I am not in to military planes at all.
Last year the highlight was the Airbus A380 which happened to be here during fleet week.

Let me know when SFO gets some visitors such as the IL-62, VC-10, 707, TU-144, Concorde, L1011, IL-96 and DeHavilland Comets.
Then I'll rush out with my camera to take some pictures.  Cool

LOL! I love that video.

I've never been to fleet week before so I don't know really what else there is besides the blue angels, even though I know there is more, I'm just really excited to find out what though. I saw them practicing earlier today and was in REI for a while when they started.....the noise just wanted me to be up there with them.

I've never seen the A380 in person and that would be a real treat if it came this year.

Ok so the show was pretty awesome. It got a little boring after Sean Tucker kept doing the same thing basically, but it was still neat to see. I definitely had the best seats in the house as I was on a Coast Guard Cutter patrolling the safety box. I'm going back to school today so when I get home I'll post pictures. I looked through some, and got some nice pictures, especially of the Blue Angels.

Here are some photos I uploaded on Flickr. I couldn't upload all of them since they're too big, but I figured I'd just share what I have so far. enjoy
